Hi this is a great project. How is it holding up what kind of range are you getting per charge. I love the paint job. What is the paint brand and code. Thanks for sharing. Thanks Alex
@2jeffs16 жыл бұрын
Hello Alex. Roughly 3-4 hours, many variables to that figure. Haven't noticed any drop in run time or power yet either. Awesome! I am beyond happy with those battery's. Would never go back to the DS ones. They are holding out great and know it would be due for another set of them by now for how much that machine gets used. The paint was from the Kubota tractor dealer. They also had the hardener additive there too. It was the same paint they use on my Kubota B2910. Have a good one Alex, Jeff.

Great craftsmanship mate. Could you mention plz how much total voltage u got? Do u need to take care for these lithium batteries?
@2jeffs16 жыл бұрын
That was 57 volt total. The Cushman gets used almost daily, It's been well over a year and still haven't had to equalize the batteries. I do charge them at a low rate of around 10 amps and slightly below the permissible peak voltage charge which is supposed to help with longevity.
@57WillysCJ7 жыл бұрын
I have a battery charger question. I have a new Schumacher charger that looks like the one you have and it won't charge a dead battery. I put my old Schumacher on that I have had for at least 25 years and it will charge the battery. The new one will charge a low battery but shows an battery is no good light and won't charge a really dead one. Even my Schumacher load tester says the battery is fine. The new one isn't doing much good.
@2jeffs17 жыл бұрын
I know most new chargers have a minimum voltage before they will start charging. Usually around 2-6v. I believe they do that to confirm the proper polarity before starting the charge so at times one needs an older charger to get started then switch to the new one. Possibly not your issue, just wanted to be sure on the info presented so not overlooked. On another note a while back I bought 2 Schumacher 12v car chargers. Same model, 1 was different looking inside thru the louvers and made overseas. Guess what? yeah - that one was defective! I hope this helps you out for your issue, Jeff.
@57WillysCJ7 жыл бұрын
I believe it is the minimum volt issue. I have heard of others having the same trouble including one youtube fellow. I will keep an eye out for another old charger that is in good shape. I end up loaning my charger to family and friends and after 25 years, it is in tough shape but still works. I try to keep at least two good ones on hand. Thanks for your time and consideration.

how expensive would this be to do on a 36v club car?
@onegreenev4 жыл бұрын
Should be pretty reasonably priced. If the Club Car is already electric all you need is a good controller and some Leaf Modules. 5 modules makes a great 36 volt system. I have a self propelled walk behind John Deere 36 volt electric mower and I now have 5 modules connected and it works great. Charger works good too and will shut off if the voltage goes too low.

At 20:55, I would suggest that you invest in a proper crimp tool. Soldering is not the way to go. Soldered part of the cable will create tension (cable is not flexible where it's soldered) and eventually cause cracks and connection failure.

That's great, I drive a lot of these from time to time. I didn't know they made them that long ago, this looks nearly identical to fairly new ones. That being said, I don't know if the ones I've used and seen are new or have been redone, but they are popular in the greenhouse industry. Everyone seems to have them and they are mostly used for hauling long trains of produce to the packing area's because they can pull a lot of weight. I have also never seen one do a wheelie.. lol

Hi Craig. Those deep cycle I had in there weren't even a year old and one was going down hill already. At times when out on a romp just 1 time the dod gets quite low which is bad on them. Any ideas for just straight up replacing my Taylor Dunn's six 6volt deep cycles with lithium? Not for more power but just because 6 volt deep cycles cost an arm and both legs!
@2jeffs14 жыл бұрын
Hi there, yes have been asked times before. Deep cycle batt's are a ripoff for the short life they have. Lithium are the real deal. Unfortunately they are expensive and require special charging procedures too. Where I bought that entire electric car battery - 48 - 8 volt cells cost me $2,500.00 which actually a deal compared to e bay prices of 110.00 per 8 volt cells.

I don'teven see residue from dried water drops so having a powerwasher is no excuse
@2jeffs17 жыл бұрын
Hello Bob. For the lead acid I am using those microprocessor controlled staged chargers. The chargers that come with the golf carts, I call them battery cookers. A friend just told me yesterday that he left his on one time for a week and had to clean up the acid mess on the floor. To clean off the saw there is a cent vac tap right there, and by the drill press too (never thought of showing that) and vacuum it off when done using it. Rarely wipe things off where it might look like that. Do have a vid on the central vac setup if you would be interested. Thankx for stopping by, Jeff

I am using the Interactor battery charger (was for the deep cycle batteries) which I modified for charge rate and cut out voltage. I checked the balance several weeks ago and it is spot on, no need to adjust. The battery's were all from the same pack which I believe is important. Also I been charging them to around 85 - 90 percent which is supposed to be better for them. Do have a video on the BMS's I am using/bought.

I've been self employed since 1982 in the automotive repair business. Started the business when others were asking for me to do things for them. Much is self taught. Always liked taking things apart to see how they worked and liked a challenge to build or fix anything especially something different. I always tell others don't let anything intimidate you. I look at everything as - if someone was able to build this I should be able to fix it. There will be fails on occasion, every day is a learning experience to benefit in so many ways. Hands on is the best way to learn and see things. Having to pick up the phone and have someone do something can be costly. Being handy is what got me where I am today. Many things one sees in the background of the videos came here in rough condition, which I couldn't afford if in good condition. I have helped many people out on odd things thru the years, can't take credit for how many others helped on projects here too in return. Thanks for stopping by, Jeff.
