When I was a kid my grandparents had a well with a bucket you had to drop and draw you water up. Everybody drank out of the same dipper!. My cousins and I played hide and seek way after dark. Caught lighting bugs and June bugs. We didn't sit in the house watching TV with a/c because there wasn't any and it was cooler outside. We spent our days playing games like kick the can and Red Rover Red Rover. Wonderful childhood memories

Hi Brenda!! Just love, love, love you. Though we're Spanish momma was raised in Langtree Texas and therefore she had the Y'all language or talk. Alot about you reminds of momma!! She was a great cook and and a nurse midwife. Mom was also a very strong Christian woman , and prayer warrior. She touched alot of people as you do everyday. I am 73 yrs old, love to cook, and, Was a nurse for 47 yrs. And like yourself I wrote a recipee book for my 3 children with 220 of my personal recipe's. I can truly relate to you and your passions. I sing, speak, and write gospel songs. I also play piano and write songs. I am totally sold out to God our Saviour as yourself. I almost feel like we're related!! ❤ ❤❤ you.!!!

Any time I make a pie I use one can of evaporated milk and use regular milk to make up for the rest of the measure of milk . Evaporated milk makes a pie rich and creamy and delicious .Nothing is better than an old fashioned homemade pie any flavor , chocolate, vanilla, coconut, lemon , pineapple, any of them are yummy! Blessings!💕

in 1971, all 4 of us kids got the flu at the same time, so mama decided to give us all a bell if we needed anything, and had the girls in their room, and the boys in their room. we all started ringing those bells, mama went bat crap crazy. she took all our bells, put us all in her room, and gave us each some vodka heated up on the stove with peppermint candies (just enough to knock us to sleep). we all woke up feeling better, and back to school for the lot of us! LOL!! Country way of fixing things.

Hello from southeast Texas! I have 3 little ones and expecting #4 in June. My youngest is a little girl who is 20 months. When I was pregnant with her I had just found your channel. I was so sick in my pregnancy with her and I used to listen to your videos. She LOVES watching “Big Mama” with me now. We cook 3 meals a day homemade. We homeschool as well. She just loves watching Big Mama cook as do I! You are such a blessing to so many. Looks like your going to can some pears! I see your jars and bowl of pears, I assumed from your tree! Praying His many blessings over you and your family!

Hello Ms. Brenda, your coconut custard pie looks so good!!! My grandma would make custard and more so her famous "Sugar Cream" Pies! Sugar Cream is still my all time favorite! My mom was also a great cook & baker, both her pies and cobblers. My husband loved her peach cobbler. I wanted to say, my mom always said " two shakes of a lamb's tail" 😄 Happy I can now watch you on youtube as well as on Facebook. You are a "breath of fresh air" to see and enjoy , and I thank you so much for your strong faith (and not afraid to talk of sweet Jesus) , for your great ideas & ways and just plain talking to us as a good friend, as that is what you are to so very many of us!! Love your cookbooks!!
