Could be that when Valdor retired he instead went back to the labs under the imperial palace to keep creating more new custodes, would explain why his arms and armor were never returned, and as he seems to be the 1st and oldest custodes that the big E explained to him how to create more of them, who else would Big E trust ? They were actually barred by the High Lords of Terra to stay within the Imperial Palace if I remember correctly. At the end of the Gathering Storm when the fighting breaks out on Luna I remember some Imperial functionary remarking how the largest piles of bodies surrounded figures in gold. How his conviction that sequestering the Custodes to Terra was a mistake was only too dreadfully true. The sharpest blade the Imperium had was left sheathed and forgotten for 10 millennia…

Hi Uncle B. (Although you're probably my age ((built 1970)) ) I really love all your stuff, and I have very little literatur concerning these guys. Been following you for only 1 year. Haven't lived in Blighty since 90, I know G. W since Citadel days, Dad Was always modelling and a Great Fan of Sci fi and fantasy, so I was Playing with Minis before Star wars dolls ! Then at 10/11 I bought TnT my Best Mate Dn D, then 1st ed W. H Fantasy. About 10 yes ago Dad got me back into it, with The Cain Serien 9 books read as I was on Holls in Blighty,The only funny books in The G. D. I then read first heretik, night Bringer, and angels of darkness. Since then I have about 120 books, and last year my first Figures for over 30 years. Anyway you have JUST got me totally back into it. I'm from Midlands, and have actually worked for GW for a year much to my Dads Delight (metal Figures buying by weight ) ! Love A. T, absolutely fantastic, I want to Play again, I've been invited here in Krieg Segmentum , to A GW Spiel evening I'll have to check it out. Been Dying to talk shit about 40k but none of my friends are into it und Colleges are more into WH Fantasy. I have a question abt the custodes. So, I know the Custodes are mourning the crippling of the emperor right now, and swore to never leave Terra unless necessary, why havent the custodes actually ruled the Imperium? Like for example, when the Ecclisiarchy came to power, why didnt they say anything about it? The custodes words are law within the Imperium and even the High Lords dont (Safe for the Captain General) have command over them. So why dont they choose who becomes a High Lord, why dont they say what the Imperiums forces should do and etc. Wouldn't the Emperor want them to protect the Imperium and ensure it stays in his vision?
