Thanks for the video. I don't understand why making custom addressable RGB stuff isn't way more popular. I know pre-made stuff is cheap in many places, but nowhere near as customizable.

Thanks for posting this very interesting addressable strip. How powerful are these LEDs ? can we replace them with a 3W LED? I wonder if a high power 16X16 LED matrix will fit in a 10 square-cm form factor.

No, they are not that powerful. Maximum current they draw is 60 mA, which means at 5V it is 0.3 Watt. Their brightness is nothing compared to a 3 W led.

It doesn't require any resistor, it sure does need a capacitor which I didn't add because I didn't have a SMD cap that time. You can add a 104 SMD cap between power rails for each LED there is.
