Great job with that old piece of nostalgia. Those metal parts look and feel so much better than the plastic ones. Especially for true scale models.

I still have an original Tamiya Super Champ from 1983 that I bought when I was 14. It was the successor to the Rough Rider Baja buggy, based on the same chassis and gearbox as the Sand Scorcher and Ford F150 Pickup but with some upgrades like a transverse rear suspension coilover unit with a one piece steel piston and rod that leaked like crazy and filled with air bubbles so it hardly dampened the ride most of the time. The steering servo on mine is laid down and screwed to two posts that attach through the chassis.

I love what you did with the body dude! Heehee, the rust effect is epic!! And the details are all big fun too. And here's some advice, four years later. I believe that front body clip installs vertically The ally post is chamfered to open the clip when you push down on top of it. You still have to pull it sideways to remove it though. Oh and the reason why it goes sideways so much is the paddle tires, no side grip at all from them. But as peeps have pointed out, slacking off the diff might help.
@BigDuke6ixx7 жыл бұрын
14:28 you can adjust the torsion bar tension by bending the v-shaped connector tube to get the ride height you want. You have to have the original plastic mech box installed, though.
@RCeveryday7 жыл бұрын
The previous owner removed the torsion bars and used springs in the shocks. Looking into putting it back.

6 years ago... but I would've mounted the servo on it's side and ran the tie rods right to a servo saver/horn (and eliminate the factory one).... Like you'd see on a pan car (rc10L) or something edit: BTW... Looks AWESOME man! If it weren't for the leaves and stuff, it'd look like a video of a real bug ripping around!

Hello! I'm from Brazil and I really like your RC miniatures. I also do here in Brazil, but with great difficulty because in my country everything is very expensive and this prevents me from exploring my creative side, for example: I can not afford a simple 3D printer that would help me make pieces specific for my RC miniatures, but I'm not here to talk about my problems but to congratulate you on the beautiful miniatures you create.

Great looking build. Love the wheels too. You should be able to get some bolt on servo mounts for not much more than pennies on eBay. Superchamp mounts might do the job, depending on how you'd prefer to mount the servo. The body attaches to the roll bar at the back. It just looks like you're missing one half of the clip assembly and the plastic spacer tubes that it bolts to the roof with. The dampers tend to leak, but you can try to mount them upside down to promote oil retention. There's also a short tutorial vid on KZbin for improving the stock dampers and reducing leakage. Thanks for sharing. Great little car :-)

If it spins out really easy in loose dirt or gravel sounds like the ball diff is way too tight. Loosen it up by backing off a 1/4 turn creating more of a limited slip effect. That's the coolest RC buggy I've seen to date and I've been in this hobby since the early 80's!

Hello saw you other video with the parts you got for it 😳. What got my attention of the parts were the (2) sides sets of nitro and Jerry can 👍. So I decided to make (2) Roto - Paks and a bracket for one side, on the other side I made the bracket for a 1/10 RC jerry can. I do a lot scratch built accessories out of styrene and they all get attention 👍. I will post some videos of my current project of Blitzer Beetle now for you to check out 🤔

Very nice build! I‘m trying to build the box art right now. But i have a second body and wheel set, i had a similar idea with the rusty looks. What did you use for the rust? I have a 3 components rust set, i dont know if i should use that. My idea was thought i promer it, then apply rust, then spray paint it, maybe apply something on the rust before that so the paint chips off in the right places. Then sand the top paint down until the primer shines through. I‘ll see

Im very new to this (or any) hobby, and got my first trx4 sport a year or so ago, from a one time payment from somebody dying. Never would have been able to get into this otherwise. Now that I'm learning slowly, I'm really wishing i could build a 4x4 baja like this. How much did this cost? How would somebody who doesn't know much about parts and compatibility get to piece one of these together without being prohibitively expensive? (Meaning over $300)
