Spanky, I have always had a desire to learn upholstery work (for cars). I have a good teacher in watching you do the seat covers. Thanks for sharing your knowledge & expertise. Rick

Very nice method for making patterns. I plan to use it. :-) Thanks for letting us know in the video that you buy the clear vinyl at Wally World. Is there a particular thickness or is all the clear vinyl the same at that store?
@SpankysHotRodsandCustoms Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I try and use something close to the material I’m using to cover the seat. That way it will lay down the same. The thicker it is the harder it is to use as a pattern.

Will you make a video on how to add the rods etc?

Yes that’s the next step.

At 7:50 you made a precise patterns with no sewing allowance. At 13:38ish you had witness marks and panel designators. Did you devise this method or did you take a course, a video reference, or a book?
@SpankysHotRodsandCustoms2 жыл бұрын
I will add a sew allowance to the pattern when I transfer it to the fabric/leather. It’s not easy to do a good fitting pattern if it has the allowance added first. After adding the allowance you transfer the witness marks I use 1/2 sew allowance so I can do French seems. No classes or books. Just picked it up by doing each job. Always learning. You guessed correctly and you are the first. I have a large shirt order coming in soon. Please send your size and mailing address. Thanks for watching and your support and questions

What grit sandpaper works best?
@SpankysHotRodsandCustoms Жыл бұрын
A 60 grit roloc disk is what I use on a air tool but it come off fast. You can use a 80 by hand for detail work.
