Mate, you’ve done a fantastic job, enjoyed watching this build; made me dig-out my Blake’s 7 DVD box set and start watching it again! I’d love this kit but the old girl wouldn’t allow anything that big in the house. All the best from Brighton pal

If my memory isn't playing tricks on me the studio 3 foot model used wood and metal for the pylons. They were so strong that when they came to filming for Terminal they had to saw through one of them to get that shot of the pylon breaking off in the ship's destruction. I wish I had your model painting skills and talent. That was amazing build. "Looks good... from a distance."
@APmodels Жыл бұрын
Hi there. I think the real one would have needed metal in there. the last one i did needed a complete armature making to keep the wings from drooping over time. I would imagine the original would have been the same. Thanks for watching :-)

Very nice model although, I gotta say, I always find a lot of the enjoyment is "getting into the head" of the original prop-builder by figuring out what parts they used, and how they put them together, to make the original model. A 3D-printed model allows the builder to ignore that aspect of the build although, of course, if the original components are no longer available then 3D-printing can be a life-saver. Regarding the switch, it might be better if the model was designed with a small slot in the switch-mount and then the switch could be securely bolted to a postage-stamp sized square of plasticard and slid into position before gluing the plasticard in place.
@APmodels Жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for checking the video. I think your correct about the switch. A less stressed position would definitely be a benefit. Overall, pretty nice kit for a display.

If only I had a 3d printer lol. Have you ever built one using the original EMA Supplies styrene tubing and parts?

I did design and retrofit an armature to a much more accurate version a few years ago. The still shots in this video are of that one. I repainted it with a much more accurate paint job, and did the original fine line tape details on the engine. unfortunately i wasn't taking videos at the time, so nothing to really show on youtube. Thanks for checking them out :-)

Last annoying question my apologies sanding wise the grit/s you would recommend
@APmodels Жыл бұрын
HI there Andrew. I would work down from something like a 200 grit to 600, but be prepared for some work and sanding cramps. Dont be afraid of it, just have some fun. White lines on the engines come with the kit and are plastic rods. :-)

@APmodels Жыл бұрын
Hey Carl. Its a thing i did, just messing about with some programs.:-)
@TheDjcarlos67 Жыл бұрын
@@APmodels I thought it might be. It's really good 🎶 I did a mix for my pirate radio station (Renegade FM) in the early 90s with a sample of HAL being deactivated by Dave over a really slow Massive Attack tune . I have the recording in the attic somewhere but your tune reminded me of it. Great build by the way. The attention to detail is ridiculous tho. I'm a patient guy but this level of patience is another level. Can't wait to see it completed

How much did you charge for this, if you don't mind? I always loved that series, not as much since watching a few episodes on YT - I couldn't find my rose tinted specs, which spoiled it a bit. It's ripe for a remake with some CG graphics though. You did a very nice job, I'd be proud to have that displayed in my house.
@daviniarobbins9298 Жыл бұрын
Am guessing double NMW over 3 days at least £500 and the rest.
@APmodels Жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, the reply below is in the ballpark for a quick hit like this. I don't really do quickies if i can help it, as i try to make everything as close as i can to was on the original filming miniature This one broke my "normal"ethic. Still looked pretty good though, despite the lack of prep on the surfaces. Thank you for checking out the videos. :-)

An excellent job on my favourite space ship design of all time, beautifully elegant yet clearly not a ship you want to mess with... I've seen this kit for sale and have been tempted - just how bad are the print lines?
@APmodels Жыл бұрын
Thanks you for the kind words. The print lines on this are pretty much as expected , with a few days sanding and filling it could be smoothed out no problem. Time constraints made this impossible on this build. You can see them in some of the close ups in the end montage. Thanks for watching the videos.
