When I saw this film as a kid I always wondered how the wing missile pods worked without sum fudging. I saw a 3D model of it and finally it all clicked but seeing the work you’ve done really helped solidify that these were functionally possible. Beautiful work. Adam Savage would be impressed I’d imagine.

Great restoration work, and an interesting model to work on. I'm slightly amazed that it didn't already have some existing internal supports.

Its interesting just how many 3d prints have no internal armature. I think designers could do with a lesson in making things strong enough to last. Good for me though, i get all the jobs reinforcing everything LOL. Thanks for checking it out. :-)

It's amazing! I've made a model of the Conestoga-class troop transport... a bit more than one meter long (1.20 meters) Unfortunately I still have to finish it. And my problem is that I don't know how to paint it. I have to learn.

Also, if I want, eventually, to make a Cheyenne dropship of my model, I should make it of almost 4 centimeters long. That's a challenge. 🤔

Sadly after building the cockpit, front section (with pilots animated heads/arms), ramp and fully sprung landing gear I lost my 1/35th scratch build in one of my moves back in the 90's. I also lost the first "power loader" entered into a show in Oldham way back in the early 90's. Slowly rebuilding all my original traditional scratch builds as 3D models/resin prints this is on the list.....after the album cover from Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds.

Either a really good replica or one of the two five foot shooting models from the Movie. The other was loaded with pyrotechnics and blown up. This would have had a small rc vehicle come drive out of the bottom back of the ship or was it the front.... I can't remember.

Maybe Ok star wars comes First as a kid I watched Star Wars at the Cinema in 1978 I was 7 years old but as a kid I could not watch Alien's until many years later but bloody love this Drop ship Its just awesome Im so jealous of the size of it as I made plastic models kits many times smaller.

Did the client not want the front pods fixed? One isn't locked into the right position and the other is closed when it should be open if the winged pods are open.
@APmodels6 ай бұрын
The front guns were a bit of a mess thats for sure. The hinge mechanism really needed remaking to allow them to open fully. But as ever, time and money constraints put that bit in the bin. Sometimes you can get into a large rabbit hole of improvements, and it was decided to leave those until a later time. Thanks for checking it out :-)
