Omg Beth, You outdid yourself once again in this video. This is my favorite. You really showed your Love for Evie in this process going to the extreme to please her. I love the pink glitter and pink hair and eyelids and the Mermaid theme. So precious. You are a terrific mother and it shows. Good job once again. You did a beautiful job. She was too shiny, didn't have much expression to her face. Now she's stunning and I adore the mermaid theme ❤️ BTW. I had a doll that looked very much like the Blythe doll as a child. My mom and dad had been in New York for a business trip in the early 70-ies and brought me the doll - all the way from "Nu Work" (I believe I was 5 yrs old and couldn't pronounce NewYork). My mom died in 1976 and my dad's GF gave the doll to her cousins daughter. I was 9 when my mom passed and still played with dolls and one day she was gone. Later on I saw a photo w. the cousins daughter holding MY doll... I got really angry and demanded to get my doll back, but to no avail.. Sorry for rambling - I just remembered my doll (I called her Maria) when I saw your daughters Sweet Sophia.

She looks amazing, I'm sure your daughter will love her. I particularly like her glittery eyes. Question: I know when people customise Blythe they tend to matte their faces but is there something that could be used to still keep them shiny or maybe even just a little bit shiny rather than fully matting them?
@BethRamsden3 жыл бұрын
Oh thank you so much! Yes I foresee many a glittering eye in my future now! ;) I think it's just a personal preference thing, but you can certainly get gloss versions of all the usual varnish brands that people use, MSC too! I think there would also be 'satin' varnish available too, as a kind of in-between, like you get with house paint? ^_^
@MarchPaynesMidlifeDollyCrisis3 жыл бұрын
@@BethRamsden I like the idea of an in-between stage - not super glossy but not matte either. Just wasn't sure if there was a more practical reason that all customisers tend to use matte, like if it makes the face-ups look better etc.
@BethRamsden3 жыл бұрын
@@MarchPaynesMidlifeDollyCrisis I think the main reason might be for photographing them, so you don’t get shiny glare and reflections?

She’s super cute! I love her freckles, and her face art. Her eyelids are really pretty, & her sparkly eyes are lovely! I look forward to seeing her mermaid outfit! P.S. Epoxy sculpt, or milliput can be your friend, on the nostrils and the chin.
@BethRamsden3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I had great fun making her ^_^ Yes it was Milliput I added to the inside of the face plate near the end to reinforce those areas which did work nicely, I'm going to try it out for some more adventurous modifications on the face soon too! :-o Thanks! ^_^

WOW! You are amazing! You just finished a memory that your Daughter will carry for a Lifetime. ;-) She is going to LOVE this doll, I sure do too. Thanks for showing yourself wearing a mask, people do not think about the fine plastics going into their lungs while sanding and drilling and dremeling. I wear one when I clean the Kitty Litter. ;-) I am looking so forward to seeing the Clothing and Shoes you make for this doll. ;-) Could you please tell me what cord you use for the Pull Strings?
@BethRamsden3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Marna! I hope she’ll get played with lots, yes lots of love has gone in to her already 😄 Safety first! 😆 I can’t wait to make the clothes!! It was nylon cord, I bought many years ago, but is a great match for the original one! 🤩

It’s the sanding process that makes me nervous, I like this one fakie from aliexpress, but her face mold only comes in shinny, a nightmare for any budding doll photographers. You’ve done an amazing job, even practically carving a new face.
@BethRamsden3 жыл бұрын
Yes! I still have to work on my patience for sanding at the end 😅 I’m working up the courage to mattify one of my real Blythes without any sanding, I love them but am not a fan of the super shiny faces either 😆 Thank you so much! ^_^

Love your works ❤ can I ask you what type of mask do you use while you are sanding and carving?
@BethRamsden6 ай бұрын
Thank you! I use a respirator for spraying sealants, but just a good dust mask when sanding, one with a good grip at the top of the nose. You’ll find those easily in hardware shops 👍

❤❤❤❤❤the teeth, did you bake the polymer clay and what did you use to.make them shiny, and did you glue them into keep them in? I guess I missed a huge part. I have a 6yo 😄❤👍
@BethRamsden2 жыл бұрын
Hehehe I feel ya! Yes I baked the teeth and coated them afterwards with a gloss varnish. I also used red polymer clay to make a kind of inner mouth to go behind the teeth, and once that was baked I just used a little mod podge glue to hold them securely! 😊

hello Beth, I am enthusiastic about your coustomizing and would like to try it, but I don't have an airbrush. Can I color my head without an airbrush? I would be happy if you would answer me. Please excuse any linguistic errors. I translated with go… ... best regards Karin
@BethRamsden3 жыл бұрын
Hi Karin! Yes of course you can! You can buy an aerosol can of top coat or varnish (making sure it’s suitable for the type of plastic you’re using). For colouring the face you can use pastels, pencils, all sorts of things 😁 check out my earlier customising videos to see some other techniques. I will be making more soon as well. Thanks so much for watching and good luck with your customising! 😄

Hey! I'm new and have and ICY doll. I've never customized before and was wondering if there are some non-permanent options I could use to practice looks on a gloss faced doll? I'd love to give her freckles I'm just not creative or brave enough to do all this to her. She's my only one.
@BethRamsden2 жыл бұрын
You can buy blank face plates on AliExpress, I recommend getting one or more to practice on :) Or you could use acrylic paint to try adding to your existing dolls face? Without sealant they might scratch off, but if you’re careful with her face you would be fine 😁
@Phoenix28ASMR2 жыл бұрын
@@BethRamsden thank you! I love how yours look and have always wanted to try but I'm not very good with my own makeup let alone a doll! I did try putting freckles on with human makeup once haha it didn't really work. 😅

Lovely. Just you should use some light colors for the nose and the lips. Or you should use only pastel, because the paint is a vivid color and the nose has imperfections, so we are focusing on these imperfections in fact. I'm french, not easy to explain in english. By the way the work is very good, just hide the imperfections with the painting. 💋
@BethRamsden3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the feedback! I totally agree, I was enjoying using the gouache paint but I do need to remember it’s not going to work for every aspect of the face up! I will definitely be combining pastels with paints in future, and trying to use the right medium for the job, to get the best effect for each area of the face. I appreciate your keen eye! ;)
