I went the opposite way of customizing my Honda vt600. It's one of the few modern bike's that can be fitted with a 1970's era Vetter Windjammer fairing. I found an old Kawasaki touring bike in a junk yard with all the Vetter gear fitted on it. The fairing, bags, and trunk. I designed and fabricated brackets to mount the fairing to the bike's frame which was going to be the most difficult part of the build. I succeed in doing that and was very happy with the result. The bags and trunk were easy. Now it's a light touring bike or Bagger. Everyone around here calls it the Shadow Wing. It's actually better than the early 80's GL500 Silverwing I purchased new back when Honda made light touring motorcycles.

Hello. Nice work done on the VT600. Congratulations! I'm renovating a 2000 model here in Brazil. My biggest challenge is with the fuel pump and adjusting the carburetion. I'll make some videos soon, when I'm ready. I took as inspiration the air filter, exhaust pipes and painting of the wheels. Sorry for my English, I don't know much about that language.

@JoeyPBuilt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate it! These are 6” z bars from lowbrow customs. And I’m not sure about the fender. It was on the bike when I bought it but I’m pretty sure it’s a short bobber fender from TJ Brutal Customs.
@backyardbraaapn10173 жыл бұрын
It's the font fender. That was done a lot on these bikes before TJ started making fenders

It’s not too bad! Especially if it’s only a single carburetor. This was my first attempt at it and it was pretty easy. A little tedious changing out jets a few times to get the right combination but overall extremely worth it.

Im getting a hard tail shadow like yours are they slow?
@JoeyPBuilt3 жыл бұрын
I own the bike in the video. I guess that would depend on your idea of slow. Haha. Compared to my cbr600rr the shadow is extremely slow. But it’s fast enough to have plenty of fun on. And due to my bike being a hard tail I don’t think I need it much faster. Open exhaust and intake, bigger carb jets and a sprocket change helped a lot.

It’s just used as the coolant overflow tank. Originally the overflow tank is where my battery is now so I just rerouted the coolant line to the bottle mounted on the side of the bike.

I’m about 5’9” and as you can see my legs are at a pretty comfortable angle. These 600’s are pretty small. They do make foot control extensions and if you pick the right set of bars to make your arms comfortable you should be good.

@@kennypool I get it, and I appreciate the stress on being safe. I’m the guy in my group that gets on everyone for not wearing gear. Which is why I wear a helmet, pants, long sleeves, gloves and over the ankle protective riding shoes every time I get on any of my bikes. I’m a pipe welder for a living and built this bike for my union’s yearly motorcycle ride. Didn’t want to cover up the pretty stainless.
