You really did leave all of the organic growth on the wood. I was waiting to see if you'd clean it off. You're a madman.

Yea they were a little gnarly, I wiped everything down with soapy water before paint. We’ll see how well it holds up

Nice job ! I'm in the process of rebuilding my deck , taking the good pieces from the old deck and re using them to build my work bench 4x8 on wheels so I can roll it outside and work in the sunshine in my yard ! Great ideas for recycling the good lengths of lumber in any demo/ renovation job ! Love how yours came out! Excellent color !

Looks great. Fits the space well. Good design. Including mistakes is good. Helps us all learn. Looking forward to the next.

This is really good. Looks more like kitchen cabinetry than a work bench in a garage. You could add roll out drawers in the gap at the bottom to store oddments of wood and stop stuff rolling underneath.

That’s a great idea, more storage the better

Thank you for sharing. I want to do this for my miter station with cabinetry but using 2xs instead of plywood. I’ve envisioned what I think is needed and you helped narrow down even more. ✅

Nicely done. Cabinet/bench looks nice. Great use of free and low cost materials.

Thanks Jim. I would much rather see this lumber get a second life as opposed to ending up in a landfill, even if it means a little more work

Brutal, reliable workbench. I wonder how the shelves, drawers will be arranged inside? The ease of use of the workbench depends on this.
@jackmeyermakes Жыл бұрын
I am thinking a half shelf in each side cabinet and a metal tool box with drawers I can slide into the middle cabinet

@@jackmeyermakes Good idea. I hope it will be convenient. Worst case, you can always change it. Moreover, a good master's hands grow from the right place))))

It would have been a good idea to seal the bottom of your counter top as well.
@jackmeyermakes Жыл бұрын
I applied 1 coat of sealer to the bottom, though I’ve seen mixed recommendations online of whether it is necessary to seal the entire bottom to prevent warping. What’s your opinion?
@denvernow7294 Жыл бұрын
Man, only if you had a work bench to do all that sawing and chiseling on... 😅
@stevenbrowningsr1144 Жыл бұрын
Wondering why you didn't cover the bottom with a scrap toe kick..Seems like you will be chasing small stuff back out from under the bench all the time. Nice job of repurposing used lumber! Thanks.
Nice job repurposing the old materials. Bonus points for the Shop Smith Table Saw, which is likely decades older than you are! No school like old school.

If you clamp your glue-ups too tight it will squeeze out valuable glue and leave a dismal bond. Source: Trust me bro
