Custom CNC build machine - Large clock dial test- X3000 - 21-22 May 2024

9 hours 40 minutes condensed down to 21 minutes - Testing out the max size of machine bed. The clock face is 500mm diameter and is just about the max size of job for this machine - The rpm is 24,000 and the feed rate (127mm/min) & rapid travel (1000mm/min on Y/2000mm/min on X&Z) is slow on this job to make sure the axis did not bind up on the ends of their travel - Everything went fine. The cutter is V 90 deg - probably the wrong angle to get detail. The wood was cheap 16mm Chinese ply which was not totally flat so the cutter was cutting too deep on two sides, while the other two sides were light cutting. Even with this high rpm/low feed rate, hardly any burning of the wood - the max depth being 4mm. Since I could not finish in one day, I left UGS software on pause over night and resumed the next day. Software used is F-Engrave - Free & Open Source. CNC controller is FluidNC 6X Controller.
