I bought a 2005 built motor k04 25 psi catless 3inch setup from my brother. When its cold out the thing is an absolute beast for the first few pulls and then starts getting sluggish. in hot weather I get 1 good pull if I go for it right before full engine warming and then shes done. He built this car and never upgraded the INTERCOOLER??? according to my recent live logs the intake temps hover between 150F-168F when fully warmed up depending on ambient temps. I did put a shield for the air filter but its not enough for that scolding test pipe and turbo. somehow this car has handled Pull after pull for the last 3 years of daily driving because I tried driving gentle a few times and the results lead to the car not wanting to pull when it was necessary as it seems to adapt to how you drive so the car practically loves the beatings.1.8ts are champions
@cjscarcollection18 Жыл бұрын
Nice! 1.8t can definitely take the beating if built correctly per desired HP/TQ. Your car definitely sounds like it's heat soaking. Should definitely upgrade the intercooler. And yea the intake is mostly for sound haha unless you get a really good setup.
@kevinhawley962 Жыл бұрын
160 F on intake temps is a big no no ....... u no why its so quick when its cold ur sucking in cold air xD my a4 b6 does the same thing..... a4 b6 1.8t stock other than a afr gauge and bung
@JNAMOTORSPORTS6 ай бұрын
Your the reason why these cars blow up. Even the cheapest Ebay intercooler is worth it over the hack shit your doing. You should the boost down since your heat soaked anyways. Or melt a piston…

@@JNAMOTORSPORTS well the cam tensioner blew on the freeway so she got the red lamp of death and theres metal in the oil and it still can technically run but obviously stupid to try. im waiting on money to rebuild it... eventually I plan to get it machined for a forged h beam stroker kit and dont plan to cut corners. I intend on raising its compression ratio(gonna talk to some 1.8 tuning wizards to see how far I can take that on e85) due to wanting it to be high performance for the street im gonna try to push the numbers as high as I can without going to one of those stupid big turbos that need antilag to even spool correctly, i also plan to set up either dual smics, or a fat fmic with custom bumper to completely eliminate the nasty heatsoaking(i will say my bro kinda effed me over because I bought the car under the pretense he would help me learn how to work it due to being a 0 experience kid who just got into cars and got their license at 19... i didnt fully understand how turbos worked when I bought it off him even thats how out of field I was, he has been very unhelpful and I had to educate and learn on my own)Im a lot more understanding now though and like I said no cutting corners. Gonna do all the mods correctly. Before the tune up after its running again and gone through 500 mile break in i plan to beef up the entire suspension with good coilovers and refreshed control arms and bearings(avoiding the cheap chinese junk) its probably gonna send me 20k back in parts(gonna have the full wiring harness refreshed as well) and machining but with my already sunken costs of around 6.5k buying the car and fixing misfires and what not that adds up to under 30k for the performance equivalent to 70k+ sport vehicles and being apart of the rebuild process will give me priceless knowledge for any future 1.8t builds. After this Im torn on whether I want to tackle the evo ix with the 4g63 or one of those 2.0 sup/turbo saturn redlines. Economically the 2.0t/s can hit high 400s even low 500 bhp on stock block due to the forged rods and just being cheaper cars but they look like meh(perfect sleepers) whereas the evo will set you back 20k minimum before you even mod it with a 400 bhp safe cap on stock block. I also hear they are extremely needy and break random stuff often but they are also one of the nicest tuners in terms of style and performance capabilities especially with the awd. Saturn redline sedan is fwd and the sat sky redline is the offspring of a corvette and miata with rwd

Hey nice B6 i did this to my 1.8t b6 and i got that flutter from the turbo, is that because of the SAI system? That "hose" that goes in the factory air box that you press with both fingers to remove?
@cjscarcollection188 ай бұрын
Thanks 👍👊 I don't think it's from the SAI system. Might be a vacuum leak near or around the diverter valve or your diverter valve. I would start there first.
