Back in the mid '60's whilst immersed in customizing model cars, we had the "Candies" Candy Apple Red, Candy Parisian Green and Candy Pearlescent Blue... ...and these semi-segued into the "METALFLAKES" (Horns' crescendo) ...and then off to zee Bullfighter art (and airbrushing in general)

The Move's Roy Wood got a sort of heavy jangle sound from his Fender XII on songs like Hello Susie and I Can Hear The Grass Grow. No fuzz or overdrive but, again, pretty heavy.

Tales of brave Ulysses white room!

yeah I don't know which one we were actually playing haha

@@TheGuitarShow Well, to be fair, who would? There’s a reason “White Room” was held over from Disraeli Gears(!) 👍

I think Clapton might've used a Fender 12-string electric on Dance The Night Away. At least, IIRC, he's playing one for the Classic Albums show on Disraeli Gears.

Does a custom colour command a higher price now - as it was more expensive originally and rarer than the standard versions, or are the standard colours valued higher, as they’re the classic colours (other things being equal as possible)? Or is it another case of ‘it depends whether you’re buying or selling’?

Well on Firebirds - custom colours puts an extra £10, 000 on the price Derek
@thebobandramonshow Жыл бұрын
Custom colours command higher prices because of their relative rarity. Especially teles which conservative uses tended not to order in custom colours. Firebirds obey the same rule too.

Custom colors on vintage Fenders are rarer. There was like a 5% upcharge originally for a custom colour and they would have to be ordered. It's the rarity that makes them more expensive now. And there's a hierarchy of rarity depending on which colour; certain custom colours were more popular than others. Any colour other than Sunburst on a vintage Strat, Jazzmaster or Jaguar is a custom colour (provided it's not been refinished of course). The custom colors used by Fender and other manufacturers were often the actual colors used on American cars of the time.
