She looks really cool, the only thing I don't like are the ribbons around her skirt because they give the skirt a strange shape. I think Meridas dress should have a really flowy bottom.

So a tip for anyone wanting to work with fake fur. Use a boxcuter on the back side to cut it out. You will have less fiber flying everywhere.

I do a bunch of Disney doll stuff, but movie accuracy is my first priority. That store dress would have gone straight to the scrap bag after its Velcro had been carefully salvaged, to be replaced with a homemade version with a softer, non shiny fabric and a much fuller skirt. I may have even done accurate layering, making the cream-colored ruffles and sleeve puffs as part of an under shift layer (which would double as a nightgown), completely separate from the dress. The store doll's hair is also too stiff and not nearly orange enough, so I may have rerooted her with something like curly mohair or unraveled orange yarn to achieve Merida's soft, frizzy curls.

Merida is one of my favorite disney princess in terms of character design and personality. It show how Disney can put in value the beauty of each ethnicity and culture. Plus, her dress is one of the more historically acurate ones that disney ever created for a character.

Belle was always my favorite and it's not because how she looks, it was because and still is because she read books. I remember when I was a young girl I was the only one who read books in my environment with kids in my age and when I saw her reading books and how everyone treated her *because of that* I was SO excited and I was like "she's like me! she reads books and everyone thinks she's weird because of that!" and I was so happy to find a princess that's read books! she's still my favorite to this day! my second favorite will probably be Tiana, I really like her hard work motivation and Mulan is also one of my most favorite, she's amazing, she's so brave and so strong and just a really good role model!

Holy smoke this looks *SO GOOD!!!* the face-up looks SO accurate to the actual animation it's amazing!! the layering of the colors, I don't know how you figure that out to make it look more realistic and More Alive and not flat but you managed to do that and it came out BEAUTIFUL, Simply Beautiful and I love the dress and what you did with it and the embroidery, such delicate and lovely job! and the clock, its so awesome!! Beautiful work on her clothing Diana! I relate to Merida so much. She's tough and wild at heart and I think it's really important that she exists as a roll model for the girls out there who don't relate to the other princesses. Plenty of them are tough in their own ways but few straight up don't like dresses and traditionally girly things. It's good that Disney Pixar are saying "there's no wrong way to be a girl."

Ya got this Rennie wishing for the renaissance fair to happen now instead of May! I'm loving it! I dressed my daughter as Merida for her first renaissance fair when she was 5mths old, using a dress from Build-A-Bear, lol And then she was Merida again for an anime convention when she was two. I relate very much to her (got three wee devil brothers of me own!) and the movie struck a chord with me.

The face up!! She looks perfect! But oof! When you were struggling with the leather, there's a solution here. You can punch the holes for your needle first with an awl (it's easier on your hands as well cause of the handle) or using faux leather because it's a lot softer (and vegan ❤😘) awls are dirt cheap from somewhere like eBay. There's no need to pay store prices for those. Daiso carries them too

Beautiful..the cloak would have been held together with either a brooch or a fastening with two buttons and a piece of chain....You could try doing a period costume doll if you wanted to have a real challenge 😀

Pocahontas. I so wanted to make a Cherokee tear dress or a Plains dress (anything but what Disney did). Even our older style clothes (pre colonial) would have had longer skirts. She should have been dressed the way the other females were. Oh, I so wanted to redo that doll.

Since were talking about princesses 😂 a Princess Zelda doll would be awesome! Not sure how familiar you are with the legend of Zelda series, but there’s a game in the series called Majoras Mask and in the game you collect 24 different masks on your journey. Would kinda be a cool series or even a collab to see dolls with all 24 masks! 🤔
