From the first time I borrowed a tool of my hubbys, he created a personal toolbox for me. Over the years, he's furnished me with my own sanders, jigsaw, drill and bits etc. He now borrows from me sometimes.😅

I made one of these last year. I did use a pattern with parchment paper that I embossed with a scoring tool. I found that each section was a bit different so I numbered each section on the pumpkin and the patterns. I cut each section out and the fit was perfect. The process after the initial work went quickly. Like you, it was a learning curve that took a few tries to figure out. Was it worth it? It turned out really beautiful and the fabric was a vintage embroidered piece, so it really makes a statement at a very low price.

I think if you placed the fabric on the bias it would have had some stretch, it turned out cute.

Hi Bev, Love your decorating style. It always looks so perfect. The pumpkin was gorgeous. Not sure if you watch Deborah at The Painted South, but I think you would love her. Her decorating style is similar to yours and she also does DIYS and she does lots of makeovers of thrifted finds. I don't comment often, but had to on this one.

I was at Hobby Lobby this morning and they have the paper mache pumpkins.

When you are picking out the . need a stretch fabric . Pick a fabric that doesn't have a loose weave. Or if the fabric is not stretch then you will need to put the fabric on the bias so the section can mold and stretch around each section of the pumpkin. Tge straight of the fabric runs along the salvage or the side that looks kinda ragged or looks torn. It's the length where it was cut at the store. The width of the fabric is where the folded side is ,ragged side to ragged side. The bias runs diagonal in the fabrics from the top salvage to the folded side ,or bottom center fold. When you pull slightly it has a stretch to it. Cut out a pattern of the pumpkin section from a scrap of any fabric just to get an idea of what this pattern will be. Fit it to the pumpkin section .you can make a pattern from this piece if it fits on the pumpkin section cut the fabric you chose for covering the pumpkin with just a bit larger all around so you can make adjustments. Remember t cut on the diagonal so it can stretch some. If you cut on the straight of the fabric it can not stretch out over the section and will pucker.

Next tim cut a pattern with foil pressed down then cut the pattern!…I make unusual lamp Shad’s that way…..it’s been 110 and higher here in Tx. Your pumpkin turned out beautiful!
