I was in Durango in ‘72 and after watching this I’m getting my hat there!!!

That was the most professional hat video I've seen to date. I love that she uses only beaver shells and "old school" tools and methods. She's a true artist. She's the kind of hat maker that makes you not mind so much when you pay the bill. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five Star video! "Thumbs way up" from this Kentucky boy.

You just solved the problem of how to flatten my brim. Thank you so much. I really love the Native American designs. If I ever visit the U.S.A., I will definitely visit your shop.

I can't believe I missed this shop when I was in Durango a few years ago. Guess I'll have to make sure I don't miss it next summer when I go to Colorado.

In the making of segment of Broken Trail, Robert Duvall said that the hat was so very important. And he's right

I agree. And I just bought myself a Stetson Penn in light gray. So far my world has changed. The hat makes the difference.

She didn't just make it, it was the second hat he tried on at the beginning. The felt body she was working with was much darker than the final hat.

I would like to learn how to make beaver felt hats, any schools you can recommend?
@russvorhees89854 жыл бұрын
What ive heard around, hatting is a craft that is learned and passed down by older craftsmen, your best bet might be to look around ur area to find any hatters willing to take u under their wing, best of luck partner!

Guess I missed the addition of the sweatband and hat band ? Anyone else? Also, I would like to learn to do a pencil roll on the brim without using a specialty iron, which I do not have.
@LukeA12233 жыл бұрын
I carved my own out of hard rock maple... with a little ingenuity you can make just about anything. But remember, it's not so mush what the tool looks like but what the results are.
@scotthamp3845 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about the brim style, but I think that I would need a granite or steel grey hat with a wide brick crease and a 4 1/2" brim

You skipped shaping the brim.

Hey guys. Im quiet interested Int this art. Been searching for courses but had no luck in finding one. Do you guys know of any place where I can aquire this art?
@Sealater5 жыл бұрын
Not that I know of, as far as I know in the US you kind of have to find a master hatter and become and apprentice. That's what I'm doing at the moment. If you really have a passion for it, seriously try to find the nearest hatter and ask them to teach you because I'm having a blast

What do I think? I think I wanted to see how she did the pencil roll.

I don’t think that’s the right hat for his face shape... but how would we know. All the hats she tried on him were the same shape lol. We learned nothing. All her advice was very generic.
@danielmeans49544 жыл бұрын
Those were all very round hats for a square faced gentlemen. Something with a little sharper lines, crown higher in the front vs that (goofy) Gus crown she used. Like the hat that the sheriff in beginning of True Grit wears.
