In this video I will take a modern Rodger Dodger and convert it into a Custom 1968 Rodger Dodger. Or at least my take on what this car might have looked like if Mattel had made this car in 1968.

Best custom yet. Lower look is better, and that paint is sweet.

Nice job! I really liked the lowered result better, and agree on the preference for wider redlines on this car. I always enjoy these videos. Thanks so much for making them.

Same, I like the lowered look too.

But also I think it might have looked better if the engine was a little smaller. I like the realistic look on cars.

Lowering the car was definitely the right call! It's got a much meaner look when it's further down, it compliments that big engine.

Absolutely beautiful!! The Rodger Dodger is my favorite casting of all time!! I have managed to collect every variation and enjoy seeing new versions, even if they're customs. The blue was a great choice!!

WOW! What an improvement! Great color choice and the finish is beautiful! The wheel and tire choice just rounds out the package.

Gorgeous. Love the blue! I think the one change I'd make would be to paint the engine bay black, seeing as some of the original green still shows through. Aside from that, I love this restoration

I played the PS2 game Hot Wheels Highway 35 when I was very little and as I was brought up with muscle cars I fell in love with the Roger Dodger in the game, I looked for years and years for Hot Wheels Rodger Dodger. I remember the rush of happiness when I found a hot pink all metal Rodger Dodger. Immediately we painted it all red like the video game car. Then matte black, and now it sits there on my shelf with other Rodger Dodgers'. Such a cool car.

Definitely worth the effort in lowering this one - chalk and cheese in my opinion. Another fab video thank you!

A tip my stepdad gave me when using the paint stripper. Get hot water, as hot as you can, from the tap. Fill a container that will hold the water and the car. Let the car sit in the hot water for a couple minutes, let it heat up the car a little bit. when you go to spray the remover, dry the car off quickly to minimize cooling, then apply the paint remover. Thermal shock should help with stubborn paint. I've done it on a 442 which had really annoying paint.
@baremetalHW6 жыл бұрын
Going to give that a try!
@mhymyk40226 жыл бұрын
baremetalHW Sorry, I need to make a correction. Get hot water from the tap,then microwave it for a minute or two to heat up the water
@cpad0076 жыл бұрын
Maybe a hair dryer could be used to either heat up the car or help to dry it off before paint stripper is applied.

That looks awesome! I find that painting the under side of the interior plastic black helps it go unnoticed. I also find it easier to cut the rod by rolling it on a flat surface with an exacto knife instead of using a dremel. Keep up the good work.

That came out so well, looks so much better with the lowered stance and wider redlines. And the blue spectra-flame looks spectactular.

Great video as always and the blue with black accents on the sides and back was an excellent paint choice and the dropped height with some meaty tires is just what this Rodger Dodger needed to make is damn near perfect! I can’t wait to see more builds like this in the future.

Astonishing results! The color is beautiful, contrasts with the wheels very well. In my opinion you could also add some decals or paint to give the car more defined character (like a white stripe). Thanks for the video, it's enjoyable, impressive and well made as always! Best regards, Albert

Indeed the lowered result is great, although the original gap did aid in the classic big tire muscle car look, it was certainly improved by the body drop. Nice work!

Great colour on that Char.... Rodger Dodger .( As a diehard Mopar fanatic , I'm always confused with this particular Challenger fronted '71+ Charger- Bee ! ) My lil new tip I tried :- trim off the axles "semi circles" on the chassis as I found some lowered cars levitate - so to speak . I'm at the stage where I paint ( & or molotow pen ) the side markers , grilles & tail lights for that extra pop . The new chassis are superbly detailed & can be done very nicely .

Very Nice! That Blue really POPS!!! Your videos have been inspiring to me to start my own little hobby of restoring Redlines and customizing more modern cars. I am still building my paint booth, which should be ready this weekend. Once I have that running, practice, practice, practice. My first will be the 1972 Mercedes Benz C111. I look forward to all my fails which will bring success as I navigate my way through this fun hobby.

Hey baremetalH-W, I hope your doing well? This Custom Hot Wheels 1968 Roger Dodger (From A Modern Casting) was really well done. All the effort you put into it (all the attention to detail i.e. multiple paint removal, sanding, all the extras) really made this car one of my top 10 favorites you have done. Hard to choose. Excellent Job as Always. Thank you for sharing your time, talents, tips, great custom ideas, and super creative fun videos. Take care and keep on doing what you love to do. REALLY SUPER CUSTOM!
