I might actually buy this set!!! My custom made Doom Buggy and Ghost Host would go very well with this set.

This is really awesome! I've done EuroDisney's Phantom Manor myself in a 48x48 baseplate. I definitely will want to add this one next to it too.

This should be an actual set, but that is a very special build. I don’t mind that it’s open back because of the amount of detail and how well hidden it is that it’s open.
@gumbycat52262 жыл бұрын
It has a great exterior and some very cool features, especially the stretching portraits. Would like to see the corridor complete with floating candles! The front has too much open space and I'm wondering if the graveyard could be placed inside the walls. Visually it looks as if the mansion could fit on a baseplate except for the conservatory.

A friend pointed this video out to me due to my love of the Haunted Mansion. If I was better versed in how to order the pieces I most likely would. Awesome job to those who designed it!!!!
@purplecat74572 жыл бұрын
Looks epic! Depending on where you place it you could add a bit of road, or garden or maybe a parking space or bicycle stand on the 6 stud strip to the side? Or a graveyard, pumpkin patch, meeting place for ghosts and ghouls, ... This will look so good in your city!

Awesome build, would love to give that one a go one day. But there is just 2 changes I would recommend. 1, use some technic to make the portraits stretch, you it out the wall like the Home Alone kit. 2. Use light bricks and small 2way mirrors in the hallway to make an infinite hallway. Really add an extra depth in that limited space.

I'm surprised you didn't mention any issues with the build itself. This is one of the most difficult and backward builds I've encountered. The roof was an absolute monster to keep together while building. Sections or parts are built, and then many pages later, details added to those parts which require taking apart things around it to get the pieces to fit. It's very odd. I also think some of the brick count is off- it would be interesting to count each piece in the PDF and then see if it matches the inventory. With that being said, this is a gorgeous piece and the details are phenomenal, especially if you are a Haunted Mansion fan. It was really exciting to build the floating candlestick- that was very creative. I also love the casket and how it opens to reveal a hand. It's a great addition for any Disney LEGO fan!

I saw this on rebrickable sometime last year & decided it was def something I’m going to do- but the way you described the instructions makes me a little nervous bc I’m definitely not a “master builder”- and I tend to rely pretty heavily on instructions- with that said though, I’m so obsessed w anything Haunted Mansion (the WDW one- I’m assuming this is the Disneyland version only bc the outside looks slightly different- but I wouldn’t know lol) so I think I’ll be able to improvise just enough.. I didn’t realize it had the stretching room included! I mean, there’s talk of us getting a Disney haunted mansion set- but I think this is one of the most gorgeous MOCs I’ve seen that doesn’t take a set and repurpose it.. Ugh sounds like a lot of work but def worth it in the end!

I went to Winnipeg LEGO store today. They had 6-7 Home Alone houses left and said they sold 60-70 since it launched. They figured would be sold out by end of day once the after work rush hit. Sounds like it is a popular set!

Beautiful set. I remember your clips in some of the vlogs. I can imagine where the difficulty existed and i hope maybe others who make instructions would maybe retry the build from their instructions or get another to try to ensure order makes sense.

I was thinking if I actually am capable of building it, I’d probably either scale down the empty area, OR, make it more like the WDW haunted mansion & add the long covered iron-gates & fencing for the queue- prob make some “Maid” minifigs if I can find the right pieces. Or definitely populate the area- it seems like a giant waste of precious real estate lol!
