I have never bought a custom set. Some missing piece one from EBay. But the only bad experience was a droid gunship that I had to literally bricklink back together. Reference to this set. I would almost rather have the instructions cheap. And bricklink and fleabay the parts. This review is scary. And you are not talking about a custom tie fighter.

Tbh republic bricks "custom designs" are just improved designs of old Lego designs. If your going to spend all this money there are better options if your going with the custom designs options. Like Davecustoms or brickvault.

I don’t use new pieces when new pieces aren’t available widely or sometimes even at all. If you look at all the used pieces in sets, if there are any, most of the time, there is not, it’s because I have no choice. There isn’t any new pieces on bricklink or if there’s new pieces they’re so expensive that the price would be raised hundreds of dollars.

Republic Bricks The “Cylinder Hemisphere 3 x 3 Ball Turret Socket with 2 x 2 Base” in this video is clearly used and literally broken. It’s a common, cheap part with hundreds of BrickLink listings, and you can literally even order it from LEGO’s bricks and pieces. This sounds like an excuse and a poor explanation for why the quality of pieces isn’t 100% in a kit that you knew was going to be reviewed. Again, if the quality isn’t the best in a kit handpicked for review, it makes me seriously doubt the quality would be good for a standard customer.

Sup Ryan, just want to mention no matter lego or custom this set is a legend to me and most of the lego community, and this custom combo set can be expensive but used in various Mocs like first/second battle of Geonosis just make up a story of clones using at-ot and not at-te or something, and also can be used in Felucia moc right before 66. You're really lucky that Timmy sends you all these custom sets for free when it's almost like 700-100USD to us or something like that.

Same, I had one when I was younger that I never fully built. If I had kept everything I had from 3 to 21 (age now) I’d have probably 1-2000 clones and probably 30k worth of lego sets. Adjusted prices of course because I had several 2008 gunships, ATTEs, 2 dropships, probably 50 of the original clone trooper battle packs, every episode 3 play set, 2 star destroyers, etc. Like uhhhhhhhh why was I such a stupid kid, that was SO MUCH awesome stuff that is just gone.

But at some point when we moved, my grandparents kicked us out of our house( they technically owned it, this was before the economy went to shit, which, lmao, they would've made double if they kept it) they threw away all of my legos. I didn't have as much as you, but I had most of the lego monster fighter sets, the 2007 trooper battle pack, and probably a lot of other ones I forgot. I still had at least 3k worth of legos. I had a lot of Indiana Jones sets too. For the dropship I like the custom one more because a lot less studs are showing on the wings a lot of detail not as blocky as the official lego one I really love the design choice of the pieces on the front cockpit more then the official lego one it's shorter then the other one which is unfortunate but the wings do look really good love the tubings on the custom dropship i also love the fact that the spine on the custom dropship does also look and is way stronger then the official set because on the official set it's literally just 3 beams slapped together and boom but for this there is well fit beams VERY strong connection another thing I liked about the custom set is that republic Bricks actually put spare time in putting playfeature into a custom lego set which is pretty rare yet really good and another thing I like about the custom dropship is that when you flip it over on its back side the wings don't go limp yet that is seen on the official set which is really unfortunate

On the Lego version, drop the cockpit on the AT-OT, eliminates the space and it still hooks up. Also you can mod all Lego AT-TEs to be carried by the dropship...including the first gen

For the AT-OT I think I actually like the lego set version more because has more detail more weapons on the back of the AT-OT. And the legs on the AT-OT actually bend properly which is another reason why I like the lego AT-OT more and in my opinion i think it just over all looks better

I think Republicbricks has gotten dissed in the comment section a lot, which I don’t think he deserves. He puts a lot of effort into designing, sorting, and selling his models. They do cost a lot of money, but are cheaper than the LEGO versions, custom designed, and most of the pieces are new. I personally don’t like used pieces, but I understand why sometimes he has to buy used with really rare ones. I personally really respect him and his company, and am considering buying a drop-ship from him soon.

Now for the AT-OT and dropship combined I can't really tell because Mandr didn't pick up the official one by the handle but I didn't like how loose the custom on is it looks like the AT-OT can fall out really easily and I think I like the bigger gap between the AT-OT and dropship combined with the official set I dont know why but to me it just looks way better wished that Timmy could put more gap length into his model but I would also recommend him to like reinforce the connection with the dropship to the AT-OT
