LEGO Star Wars has been around since 1999 and there has never been a Jedi Temple set! Republic Bricks sent me his new CUSTOM LEGO Star Wars Jedi Temple to take a look at and... I'm impressed! At $1600 it's double the most expensive official LEGO Star Wars set which is a tough sell. But the build is fantastic, it has iconic interior sections built for Minifiugres (Jedi Council room anybody?), & the exterior looks great!

Definitely one of Timmy’s best sets but there is absolutely no reason this should cost anymore than $800 when it has just under 4000 pcs. I don’t care where the extra costs came from (rare parts, labor, design, etc) but $1600, let alone anything above $800, is absurd.

Very few say what they would pay for it, which is bad negotiation; if something was a little too pricey I'd wait for a sale or the price to come down or find another who wants it too and see if I can get 2 for better price than $3200. Price complaints sound like trolls trying to ruin his business. I discovered there's a really rare tan piece 3685 Slope 75 2x2x3 double convex that's $40 each that was only given to Ambassador Class visitors to the park in 2008 and 2010. Unfortunately, they're not in this build, which is why the corners use plates instead. For all I know they could be released in a 2022 set and the price would plummet (or by a L**O competitor - HERESY!). Put 6 on each corner and that would be 24x40 or $960! Are there less-rare but valuable pieces in this build? The reviewer doesn't say.

Looks cool but not worth $1600. Not even a bit! I get it. It's a custom set. But that's precisely the point! It's an unofficial thing made by a fan; no official collector's value, no box, no factory quality control, and no official LEGO stamp. $1600 for a MOC??? Oh, and with ZERO Minifigures?!?!?! You've got to be out of your mind to spend that much money on a fan-made build. If you bought it and currently enjoy it, more power to you. But it's a solid no; out of consideration for even buying it. Looks cool tho.

I like this but 1600 is a bit insane. I have bought a MOC for the Ebon Hawk for the KOTOR series and its pretty huge and total amount of bricks is around 750$ish, with interior. Even with custom minifigs to represent the different figures in the game it wouldnt cost more than 850$

I feel like it has an identity crisis where it doesn't really know what it wants to be. If it wants to be a display set whose whole appeal is that it has such a presence in the room (like the Colosseum for example), then why include an interior? Especially at the expense of making the exterior have all these gaps just ruining the look. If you wanted a display set, why on earth would you not use some of those 3900 pieces to make the roof more detailed/interesting, instead of filling the interior with details nobody can see?? On the flipside, if you wanted to make this a playset, why the hell would you make it have an entire 360 degree exterior? You could chop it in half and make it a "dollhouse" design like Darth Vader's Castle which would allow you to definitively say its a playset with some display value. You could include as much interior detail as you want in that case cus you can easily access it and play with it. And I'm sorry, but you can NOT make a playset Jedi Temple set and not include ANY Jedi minifigures. That's inexcusable. Pick one or the other. Do you want a display set (in which case, cut out all the wasted pieces on the inside and bulk up the outside) or do you want a playset? (in which case you don't need to waste all those pieces to make it twice as big as it needs to be, and include SOME figures at least). Even as a display set I don't think it's that nice. The fact that it's BIG doesn't make up for the fact that the techniques look super simple and borderline boring on the outside. The colours are fine, I'll give him that, but a denser/smaller build would be much better. And then there's the price. I'm sorry but $1,600 is absolutely insultingly bad. This isn't anywhere near worth even half that imo. Maybe if they didn't waste so much pieces and time trying to design a jack-of-all-trades mess of a set, then they could've produced this at a sane price. Give your set an identity and build around it. Minimize cost where you can. You can't just cobble together every single set concept into one bundle and call it worth it. The display side of it isn't worth $800. Not even close. And the play side of it isn't worth $800 either. Combining them doesn't make it better, it makes it worse. There's no universe even the most die-hard Star Wars fan with any sanity should ever even consider this over the UCS Falcon/UCS Star Destroyer/UCS AT-AT.

I agree with every point you made, but one must consider the simple fact, it’s a jack of all trades for a reason. And that reason is the same reason lego hasn’t made one. It won’t sell the same way. If lego made it they’d have to do a jack of all trades style as well which will force them to price this set at least in the $500 range. But then they’re torn because they’ll price out the people who want a PlaySet. So then they say fuck it just do an exterior model, then they’ll piss off people who wanted an interior (look at the star destroyer). The point is regardless if lego made an official version they’d either do a half assed down sized play scale that might please some but piss off everyone who wants a giant detailed set. Or They make a display set that’s pricy and include 2 mini figures and piss off everyone that wanted an interior set up and leave people feeling like why am I buying a giant set for nothing. So Timmy making the best of both worlds I wouldn’t argue is a con, I’d argue it’s pleasing both sides at the cost of pricing out nearly everyone. But for that small group that can afford it they’ll love it. Apple doesn’t give a fuck if you can afford their iMac Pro they didn’t make it for you, they made it for the small group of people that can buy it. Timmy did the same thing here. We can bash and hate on it, but unless you’ve got the money to dump our opinions don’t mean jack.

Our opinions say hey, it's too overpriced for this and this reason so I'm not going to get it. If we really wanted to get it, we could afford it lmao, but is it worth it? That's where opinions come into play. I get where you're coming from that timmy is "appeasing both sides" but that alone doesn't validate an expensive price if the quality isn't good. Assuming that the people who can afford it would even enjoy it in the first place, isn't a valid excuse for it either. The price is pretty unreasonable but we need to consider that 1. There's nothing better. 2. That he has to make a profit. (I mean the combined cost of all the parts that you're being sent is already a crap ton) And 3. You're paying for the design / idea too. Think about that last one. Its hard to design a lego set, especially a giant one like this. Timmy was trying to appeal to people who want it for display as well as those who might want play features and more detail / interactibility. That's hard to manage. If Timmy wouldn't have had the idea for the set and put in the hours to design and test build then we wouldn't even have a set to argue the price of. Also going back to point one, he has to make a profit. Think about it. Timmy likely knew he'd only sell a few of these, so he has to get his money's worth and make back what he spent in the first place.
