Incredible work! I've long dreamed of extending my Bundy contra alto down to low C, seeing it done on a contrabass makes it all the more feasible.

It would be quite a process, but definitely possible. I'm pretty sure there is a tech in Brazil who offers to extend bundy contra-altos down to low C with real metal keywork and parts. Best of luck and please share if you do pursue a low C on the bundy!

Unfortunately I'm not quite ready to release this publicly yet as theres still a lot of issues with it that needs to be worked on (particularly with the bridge keys snapping quite often). Its also quite a process to assemble one of these with a lot of non 3d printed parts and such. But I'm hoping to make an improved one soon that can either be made DIY or to sell

@@jackforlife101 Hi thank you for your interest! I will he posting an updated version of this extension sometime soon that matches the updated design I did for a Vito contrabass. I’m currently not planning on releasing files for my extensions (it is also quite a process to build) but if you may order an extension from me and I can build one for you if that interests you.

I love it! Unfortunately I'm stuck on a school-owned 7182 model, which brings me to my question: if you've got a 7182 model, can we expect any sort of design like this for that type of contra? The bell actually has a built in peg and the body doesn't do a wrap-around so you'd need to include that with sturdy materials (that also don't damage the tenon) and I'd imagine you'd have to make like a thin 3D-printed sleeve or two around the body that has posts added onto it to make the keys. If you don't have a 7182, no biggy of course- I just come across low D-C's way too often and my director refuses to get the paperclip we have fixed 😢

I actually have access to a Vito contra for a little bit right now so I’m already working on building an extension for it. It would be more or less the same design just modified to fit the Vito (or Leblanc 7182). I’m guessing an extension for that model of contra would be the most popular since most people only have access to a Vito contra anyways 👍
