Well, Not a lot of info on this video. I have been making them for several years now from different material and then one day I came across a video by scorpiontube712 and copy how he makes his wire bait box. Quick and simple. However, I no longer use the 065 weed trimmer line or the system he uses for attaching the snares. I went to the Mason Tackle Company on line and bought the 80lb hard leader and the number 31D size .053 double sleeves for the snares and they work so much better and best of all, the line works a lot better. I will be making my tops or lid like Mr. Garcia from now on. I do use the heavy braided stainless leader for my lead line too. I also make a smaller snare and they are round. I also pour in the lead weight before I attach the lid, it's just easier that way. Sorry, I have no video camera or I would do a how to myself.

Hi there, great video! Can you make another video showing how you did the lid? Or one where you show us how you make it? Please and thank you!

Sure, very soon.

Nice crab snare! Are you going to add galvanized wire between the wider slots? I have found that if you don't continually pack the snares tight with squid or fish, crabs and fishes will steal your bait.

Try making a bait sock using the no slip stuff used under throw rugs. The crabs still try to feed but they don't get away with as much bait.

I'm assuming you are using these snares dungeness or rock crab? Here is Texas we only have blue crab and I have been told that they are not big enough or strong enough to make the trimmer line close around their extremeties. I have tried numerous ways of making snares using heavy mono but it gets all tangled up and is totally ineffective. What species are you using these for and have you or has anyone watching this video tried these on blue crabs? Thanks

You're right I do use in for dungeon is crab and rock crab, nobody I know has use them for blue crab or anything smaller than that, you may try using a monofilament line that's a lighter weight.
