Today, We, artisanhands channel would like to introduce KUALIS CYCLES.
Mr. Yoshi, a frame builder, spent five years learning to build keirin and road bike frames at 'LEVEL. in Japan.
After that, he moved to the United States and worked as a frame builder for seven years at 'Seven Cycles,' a company known for producing some of the world's top titanium frames.'
And in 2012, he founded KUALIS CYCLES in New Jersey, USA.
In 2016, he returned to Japan and opened a workshop in his hometown of Wakayama Prefecture.
His welding technique for titanium frames is exceptional, leading to a surge of orders from around the world.
Moreover, his anodizing technique for titanium is of unparalleled quality.
Its beauty, on a level comparable to that of a work of art, is a wonderful piece that symbolizes "the Japanese people as the world's best craftsmen."
The following is his concept for product creation:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Design Philosophy
You might think when geometry design is finished, the design process is completed. Actually, the geometry design is just the beginning of whole designing process.
After planning of dimension size, proper tubes are carefully picked out, and then, the selected tubes are subject to the butting process.
This is how KUALIS's Titanium frame design process flows:
1 Geometry planning
2 Selection of proper tubes
3 Butted tube design
Race, long-touring, sex, weight...each customer's ride style is unique. Individual ride style, which is taken into account in assessing the geometry size, is also a must factor in selecting the best tube size (diameter and thickness). Further, the chosen tubes are minutely adjusted through butting process. Tube thickness and taper length are numerically converted in the plan. This series of process enable customers to own bikes best matching with their ride styles.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welding + Alignment
Melting with adequate temperature, a combination of welding travel speed and gas shielding, rhythm and bead size. In the welding process, attention is fully focused on making a balance of those elements calculating anticipated distortion. Alignment is countlessly checked while one frame being welded.
The welding process has critical impact on the quality and preciseness of a custom bike frame and shows the skill and technique of a frame builder.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Material
KUALIS chooses the best material for titanium and steel frames through the experience of building no less than 5,000 high-end custom bike frames in the past years.

・High quality aerospace grade seamless 3Al-2.5V CWSR (Cold Worked Stress Relieved) titanium tubing.

I can look at that build and say what a work of art, and you can look at your work and 2 maybe 3 parts you don’t like. That is because you are seeking perfection, what a beautiful piece of work. You are a fantastic craftsman. Thank you. I just subscribed to your channel. Thank you again.

I like watching videos like this. Those KZbinrs who show "Dream" builds and are just installing components to a frame are boring to watch. This is the real building process of a Dream build.
