Nice choice for a new truck. I thought most people in So Cal avoid black due to the heat gain but it sure looks nice. The rack should be very “functionable”.

For us newbies, you should make a video showing us how you use that rack. I'm always a bit nervous about how I tied down the steel I get at the supply store to bring it home. I'd like to know how to do it safely.

Looks great - always a treat to see your projects Jimbo! As I watched you cut out and weld the two braces, I thought to myself had he cut out a couple circles (maybe one large to the front and a smaller to the back) you would still have the structural support, but also a grabbing point for straps. Silly me to doubt your thought process - as the video progressed you already had that covered with your to bent rods. Always the man, thanks for today's video, my coffee breaks are always the better watching your channel!

Looks good. I would've liked to seen a couple holes cut into the brace to use for your tie down points. I use lots of straps but I see your need for hooks for using your rope . Looks good
@droy3333 жыл бұрын
Old blokes and rope. "I can do a trucker's knot and get it pretty tight" they say. I have a 3 tonne strap that could break things in half if I wanted.
@donsmith90813 жыл бұрын
I was an "old school" rope guy until my buddy pushed me to just try a motor cycle ratchet strap. I still carry a long rope but always use tie downs when able.

I get the feelings behind not wanting the lateral stops poking up, but here's a thought: Why not cut some larger tube in half and notch it so that it lays down flat over the main bar when not in use, but if/when you need it, you just fold it up?

I'm taking back the dewalt metal chop saw, the base and clamping construction is cheap and flimsy... So I'm considering the fien and the evolution, I know you've used both can you give me a pro or con of either or maybe which you would recommend I go with? Thanks, love your videos!
@Nesutaadesu3 жыл бұрын
I have the evolution (rage 3 I believe) great little saw considering how inexpensive it is. The fence flexes a little compared to the Rage 2 model but some people fix this by welding a bit of metal on the back. You can see it in use in one of my videos. I use fiens carpentry tools and they are always fairly high end feeling although I haven’t used their metal saw. Hope this helps with your search!
