I live in the south and I am a white, 57-year-old man. I have been waiting all my life to hear a black man use the term Afro Engineering. I thought it was a no-no. Good job on the kit, I like it.

Thank You! Everybody's skin is becoming too thin and while we are bickering with each other, America is being sold under are very feet. Like I was saying to another subscriber, cant we have a hobby that race is not an issue in? Yes! and it is bike life. Sir if i see you and your family even if all of you were wearing confederate flag shirts, I would as a driver do what ever i can to pass you safely and even assist you if your needing to make your way thru traffic on the road at no hesitation. Yes a bike can save someone's butt today because i care more about the freedom to ride on two wheels In this great country than any other social issues that are in America at this point. I'm 53 years old and i can care less how anyone feels about my origins being from somewhere with too much sun on a daily basis. And this is the only way i can leave our generation some of my knowledge i have acquired over my lifetime. Sir we need to get the youngsters back into building things. buy your grand kids the kits, if their old enough to handle tools, which was 6 for my dad. We're leaving a generation of kids that think there's a "book for dummies" for everything lol. So since its free i plan to make more tapes and be like a black mr. rogers so stay tuned and you will hear some more things you thought you'd never hear a black man say i keep em coming so you won't have to feel uncomfortable hearing them lol. God Bless You brother and Merry Christmas to you and yours k.

thank you! Yeah i have to admit I was happy to run across them while searching for options. Not sponsored by them but a good product is a good product which is actually hard to find in this hobby. be careful with some of the aftermarket stuff that says it will make the engines faster like boost bottles, porting etc. most of the products from china are really cheap and not strong enough to be modifying. they have a chinese jackshaft but the shaft is in mm and the support is made of diecast metal. I try to save others the money that i wasted learning this. God Bless and Bike Life!

I don't under stand, your having someone else put it together for you? If you have questions about it send me some pics of the build and i will return you what i feel would be safety concerns to look at. These can be dangerous if not built with safety in mind. yeah my bike is cute but it is prototype number 5 for a reason. the faster it would get, the unsafer it became, brakes flying off all kind of stuff. I'm not rich so there are some inexpensive additions needed to make the standard motorized bike kit safer. But if you have money the hell with these gas bikes the new fat tire ebikes make mine look like doo doo in comparison lmao! God Bless and serious any questions send them to justageek47@gmail.com and i will reply. I rather help someone ride these safely than have them banned from unsafe rides.

@@DavidPhillipscendashi the bt80 kit has a starter built in so i was thinking of trying to buy a starter and battery and "afro-engineer" something up. i was watching go-cart vids where they install starters and solenoids but seems like i would need a charging setup also. i can buy separate parts from the bt80 kit to make things a little easier or at least see everything i would need. i wish i knew about the bt80 when i bought my kit because it has everything. i'm gonna buy the centrifugal clutch and see how that goes. i have the jackshaft kit which i like. for some reason i have a pull start but i its too hard to pull so i never use it. maybe you might know what i could do. it seems like i have too much compression if i take out the spark plug its easy to pull.
@DavidPhillipscendashi
@DavidPhillipscendashi 3 жыл бұрын
@@michaelperry1309 Ok brother, I see what your trying to do, but after looking at the bt 80 design i'm not sure how you would make that work without at least using the bottom of the engine mold which holds the starter parallel to the gear flywheel. also if the pull start is too hard to turn the engine i am not confident that the electric starter will do any better. one thing about these parts from china there not very durable. I even took my pull starter apart to put a stronger rope and handle in it. I think your going the right route with the centrifugal clutch. I have had that too much compression problem before because i use car engine gasket maker instead of the cheap paper gaskets that come with the engine. That bt80 looks like a kit that i would just leave as is and maybe add better exhaust only. Keep me posted cause i am interested in your results. Thanks for watching and God Bless.

you should flip the masterlink on the jackshaft chain so the closed end is facing the front just in case it knocks against something the clip wont pop off. Nice build tho, very impressive

the bike looks good but i noticed that your 2 cycle has no expansion chamber ? it would have alot more pwer with a pipe made for it
@DavidPhillipscendashi
@DavidPhillipscendashi 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm actually satisfied with the power i get out of it other than a better carb with easier tuning, But it has the expansion chamber pipe connected to the stock pipe because when i bought the e-pipe it had a little tail that seem to have too much back pressure or something, i didn't like. so i cut it off and attached that stock pipe to it to keep the noise level down and give it more flow. It still wasn't enough so i drilled two holes in the in end of the tail. Runs great but the engines have never had enough torque for me until i started using gears with the jackshaft. thats where the power is. next month my spring rebuild video will be out with a better gear ratio 21 tooth down to the 9 tooth on the jack shaft. had to get a stronger chain on the regular side to handle the torque it has now. So stay tuned k!

Thanks! Love it man, I'm trying to create a new video on the upgrade to that bike right now. my 3D printer is slowing down the completion. Got some new ideals and started playing with the gears so its gonna be different. Also bought me a helmet cam so this time i'll have good footage of it in action, I'm excited my self lol. I'm low budget so the process is slow but coming real soon promise. Bike Life Bike Love, be safe out there my friend.

Another, normally overlooked, place to find an assortment of gears, chains, bearings, and shafts is Tractor Supply Stores. When I owned a Harley/Davidson Sportster I found that the only way I could afford to keep putting chains on the bike was to get them at Tractor Supply. The affordability didn't just come from the difference in price, which was astounding, they were affordable because the Tractor Supply chain (exactly the same size as HD Chain) lasted X-10 times as long as the Harley/Davidson Brand chain. The HD Chain, even lubricating daily with HD Chain Lube, would quickly stretch out within a month and then soon after start popping. The Year Model Harley/Davidson Sportster, that I bought new from a dealer, the factory did not set the gearing right. On the Interstate, traveling at 60 plus MPH, the engine had to run at far too many RPMs for the speed traveling. So I went to Tractor Supply and purchased a much smaller rear wheel sprocket. Everyone said that I was crazy and the sprocket wouldn't hold up. That's exactly what they said about the TS chain. I took the TS sprocket and using the, now removed HD sprocket as a template, marked out the bolt pattern then drilled out the bolt holes. The new sprocket aligned perfectly but I did have to shorten the chain a few links. After reinstalling the rear wheel, and smaller TS sprocket, I took the bike for a test ride. The changes I made to the rear sprocket made all the difference in the world. Taking off from a dead stop did change slightly but I got used to it in less than a day. Starting from a dead stop was like starting in second gear but the V-Twin engine had more than sufficient torque to negate that issue. I purchased the Sportster to ride, not to race. The greatest change was when I was riding on highways and interstates. At 65 & 70 MPH the engine purred smoothly instead of sounding wound out. The sprocket change greatly improved the fuel mileage as well. I made many long scenic trips, with my girlfriend riding on the back, and didn't have any more issues with the bike. The predictions from all the skeptics, "you'll burn up the clutch, you'll have to downshift to get up any hills, the TS sprocket will wear out, it will stall every time you try to take off, etc, etc, etc, were all proven wrong.
@DavidPhillipscendashi
@DavidPhillipscendashi 4 жыл бұрын
Don't you love proving the skeptics wrong lol. thats what the afro engineering joke is about. I know there's a professional way and tools available to do things i did better, but with my budget this was my best and it ran pretty sound. The engines are made of a very poor grade of metal in china to get all the repeat business. I'm in the process of going fully electric. Saving to get the parts, a 72v kit that will out run these gas versions and last longer too. the batteries are pricy but as much as you spend on repairs it balances out. I like to ride, but bike ride. getting up in age so couldn't pedal as far so that's how this project started. Thanks for watching, sorry just seen this hope all is well with you and God Bless your travels.

I'm still checking out videos and websites to see what bike I want to use and whether I go electric or gas. My mojo wants me to go gas but my ninja wants me to choose electric LOL. At the moment I'm looking at a bafang bbshd Mid Drive ebike kit and a gravity monster frame with rst Renegade front forks. They give me the Fat Tire option for off-road. I'll be sure to touch base with you from time to time as I start my project. Have a great summer.
