Here are some tips: The key is to use as little pressure when writing as possible except on the down strokes. Constant use will make you a master in a year or two. If you use other pens often it is hard to get used to it. Consistency is better than speed at first. Write slowly if you have to, but don't obsess about perfection. Always go a little faster than you are comfortable with so the strokes look more natural and less shaky. Again, a light grip and light pressure are key.

Thanks for the kind words! I would recommend starting with a Lamy Safari Extra Fine with a cartridge converter. They are high quality and fun to use for a cheap price. I learned calligraphy by copying paragraphs from my favorite books as I read them. Some of the fonts are my own style, but all are based on Spencerian Script. Copy those letters and soon you will develop your own style.

Chibi Lychee one thing is that it sped up, he may have made it seem easier than it looks even though it took way longer than it looks, it probably took him a fairly long to slowly perfect each word and every angle, he may have even redone a few of his words, but the time in which he would of originally taken to do this is why he sped it up

You do realise that with the proper supplies and lots and lots of practice anyone (including you!) can achieve this level of penmanship right? He wasn't born with these skills you know. Also a normal falcon doesn't write like that, this one is modified. The above comment is also right in the fact that he probbably used some camera tricks to add a bit more class to the video.

@@Drad_ sorry to add to a dead chain but, what's different about this falcon? I'm very new to fountain pens I only got a muji pen like a week ago
@milkbrother03224 жыл бұрын
@@natarrlie the nib of the Falcon in this video is customised, as stated in the video description. It has been grounded. Means they 'shaved off' a portion of nib's tip to attain a different one. And stock Falcon nibs, although they are available in 'soft' EF or 'soft' F, aren't really a flex nib.

Thanks. Actually, I only have four fountain pens at the moment: this Namiki Falcon, a Nakaya Naka-ai, a Lamy CP1, and a stub Pelican that I was using in that one shot. Four is nothing by most pen enthusiast's standards, but it means I know each nib by heart. The paper is Bristol Board. I only use it because it films well-it's very hard, so the ink stays wet longer and it makes louder noises for the microphone. Otherwise, it's not really ideal for writing.

These pen vids take a lot longer than people realize. Two days of shooting, and two more of editing. Setting up the shots was the hardest part. For most, the camera was upside-down and right above the pen and I would have to press my face to the table to see what I was writing. I don't do videos for a living either, so it's difficult to make these anyway. Flushing the pens was the easy part; I would do the light colors first, and after emptying, fill them w/ progressively darker colors. Cheers
