I got my Jetstream yesterday. I ran it in my pool just for a test and I was impressed at how maneuverable it is. Had no problems running it fast in the confined area. I was amazed that the boat actually goes in reverse without using the reverse bucket. None of the other jet boats I've owned was able to do that. The designers left the reverse function to clear debris that get stuck around the impeller, but it does indeed go in reverse making the bucket unnecessary. I was studying the transom last night and I thought I may actually remove the trim tabs altogether and make a custom plate under the nozzle that's longer to act as a ride plate similar to the Streamline Thrasher. I also have a Flycolor 150 that I'm going to install just for the heck of it. Sundogs makes 3D printed nozzles for the Jet Jam and River Jet that really do increase speed, so it's only a mater of time before we see options for the Jetstream. Fun video, thanks.

I've been talking with Scott at streamline rc. The thrasher may be coming to the channel here shortly. He's been refining the thrasher for years, and I'm super excited to be working with him.. I'm working on a few temporary nozzles for the jetstream, I designed them to be quickly interchangeable, going for a test right now. Hopefully, the video will be out tomorrow

Jet boats are all about action reaction. Water doesn't compress like air does so a smaller nozzle will always be a decrease in water flow. The amount of water volume/weight is what moves the boat.
@Mrkcnnt8 ай бұрын
Because water can't compress, it has to flow faster you know. It is all about exit velocity
@playanddisplay36368 ай бұрын
@@Mrkcnnt Exit Volume also, the volume is the torque the velocity is the HP.

Can’t get enough of this type of video Big B. From what I understand of jet boats, the intake inner housing, before the impeller, can be a place for improvement. However ProBoat probably has it down pat . So It needs to be full of water at all times providing a little more water than the impeller can move. Although too much extra space can cause cavitation, too much air mixture creates less dense water to be pushed out the back. So I have no clue as to what that rc boats intake cavity looks like but I imagine a near straight pipe would be desirable like the “through hull” water pickups. I saw a video of a full scale jet pump inner housing having a plate welded to the forward most portion to close of unneeded space, the drive shaft passed through it and this allowed for a more stream line intake and had a noticeable improvement on the boats high end speed. 🤷🏻 what do I know, accept that out of the box is never fast enough 🤣😂🤣 Tinker tune and test 👍 BGFL

Don’t give up on the nozzle, with water jets very slight improvements can be made but slight at best (that is what I’ve gleaned from the internet) however Big B you may prove them wrong!!! Tinker tune and test 👍 BGFL. That is one cool boat.

I got mine out today. Made some small videos of it. No trimming done really. Just wanted to test it. It did 29 mph which wasn't bad. And there's definitely a few more left on the table.
@ninthislandrc Жыл бұрын
I think I might know the 'problem'. You placed your jet nozzle extension inside, which is restricting flow, creating a slight back-pressure, while simultaneously increasing the jet stream pressure, but also condensing that stream into a smaller stream. There are a few (maybe more) videos about the TFL Jet Boat, and nozzle mods people have done. You might want to search some of them out, and watch them. You'll notice that, in almost all extensions done by others, they've either added the extension to the outside of the stock nozzle, or (as I'm in the process of doing) they've added the extension directly to the end of the stock nozzle (which, when done correctly, has an ID matching, as closely as possible, the stock nozzle ID).
@IRONCLADRC Жыл бұрын
Roger that, I'll check the tfl jet pump nozzle mods out. Thanks for the suggestion

@@scottdearmond5532 Now you're talkin' 👍🏼👍🏼 🤙🏼 For my TFL Jet Boat, what I'm going to be using is 'interesting'...but, strangely enough, it matched the nozzle's ID & OD almost perfectly - a plastic tool for installing/removing a toilet seat...lol. Granted, I had to use a Dremel to remove the 'nubs' on the inside, but it works. Then, I used epoxy to fuse the two pieces together. To remedy the slight difference in ID & OD (0.1mm inside, 0.2mm outside), I used a Q-Tip to apply a minor amount of epoxy, "smoothing out" the difference. I haven't had the chance to test it at the lake, But I hope to do that this coming week, or the following week.

The steering nozzle isnt what id change in diameter. The part of the pump behind that is what would need adjusted. Thats what the water pushes through. And its pretty thin there so i feel that part would need 3d printed and made different sizes. Im picking a printer up this winter.

Big B look into loader grate for jet pump. Little piece of metal in the intake grate on the bottom that directs water towards the impeller. It will load more water to the impeller

There is an optional $16 plastic grate, with a curved scoop in it, on the Horizon site. Not sure what it is for. There is also an $34 aluminum grate. It is the same as the stock one but in aluminum.

How about using the trim tabs to keep it from purposing and trim the nozzle up. It might be worth a try. Also is there anything you can port off of the inside of the jet pump for better flow.

With the combination, you can get the boat out of the water with the tabs for more speed/efficiency, then trim the bow down for stability
