I actually use custom page sizes as templates for making photo canvases at Costco. I do a black or white background, then place one or photos on the page, leaving 1" margins. Then I choose either black or white wrap when I order the canvas, which "self frames" the canvas.

Hello Gary, your video is really clear & helpful. After many try, I can't apply my custom size. I carefully select "any printer", but my custom sizes aren't clear to be selected. I tried to relaunch Pages, to change the size on a new document... However no way to use my settings, would you have an idea of the trouble, it would really help me. Thanks

@@macmost How kind of you to reply Gary, my spanish is getting in the middle! I want to divide the document, with columns, but the lines are to be seen.... geezz don't know how to explain it better! So, 1 column is wider than the other, and there is a header as well, that should have a division as the rest of the document.... I hope I could express it ??? LOL Thank youuuu

@@DalsPhotography Are you looking to add visible lines? If so, use the Shapes button in the toolbar and select a line.

There's not much in Pages that would support that. Perhaps a design or desktop publishing app would be a better option for that.

What are you trying to do, exactly? Print to a custom page size?

Just output in a PDF with a little more control of margins and page proportion. I am using a bunch of vertical column-like spreadsheets, and would like the PDF page to be different vs the Letter or Legal for instance. I can make the custom sizes in Pages, but Numbers doesn’t seem to respond.

Hi Gary, that was great, however... I have a recipe card in custom page size that is 150mm wide, 140mm long. It shows up on screen in the correct orientation, type my recipe up and tell it to print. And every time, because the paper is wider than it is long, it switches to landscape and prints sideways. I have tried changing back to portrait and the paper becomes 140mm wide X 150mm high. It's as if it wont let me have a portrait that is wider than it is long. If I do same thing in MS Word, it prints OK. Am I doing something wrong ? or am I missing a setting in Pages ?, TIA

Maybe something to do with your printer settings? I can't troubleshoot this for you since I don't have the same setup as you. You'll need to experiment and try things.

i want to get exact measurement in apple numbers where does my a4 page start & end before printing. cause i use small text box table and before printing "repeat table header" mess up my whole doc. my half table is on page 1 and half of it is on page 2 I've to use (command P & escape to measure where does my page set)

So you mean the headers and footers? You can select the elements in there and change or delete them. Just make them empty.

Let us say you already have a document with information. If you change the page sizes, pages only increase the size on one side of the document and the information is no longer centred. Is there a work around on this?

Are you doing a Page Layout document or a Word Processing document? If Page layout, you'd then need to adjust the elements to your liking.

I'm trying to replicate on Pages, what I used to do on Publisher: create post cards. I found the template that prints two post cards per page but both need to be edited individually (on publisher I could work on one post card then "print 2 per page" on 8.5x11). Any tips from anyone would be most appreciated!

There are controls when you go to print to do 2, 4, 8, etc per page.

I have a two tray HP printer, and you have zero choice where things print. Print anything and it is printed on envelopes. I use my PC to print.

Are you saying you can't select the tray on your Mac? Maybe there is something you need to install from HP to get that option?

@@macmost - HP says I need to load paper in drawer 1, which is also the only drawer that accepts envelopes. You cannot select the drawer on an Apple Mac, iPad or phone even using the HP app.

@@macmost - LOL! I have. HP supports advice was to replace the envelopes in drawer 1 with paper. I do have half a brain left, too funny. As the printer serves several PC’s and macs in my work from home office, I don’t do that. It’s quicker to print using one of the PC’s. Thanks though!
