Custom Porsche 911 996 993 Boxster 986 Steering Wheel Install

We installed a DCT Motorsport T96 custom steering wheel in our Porsche Boxster 986. Fitment is the same for 911 996 and apparently the 993 as well.

Getting ready to do this in a couple days. Is it really necessary to unplug the battery? Could you pull the fuse for the airbag instead?

Yes disconnect the battery!! For the sake of undoing one nut and removing the ground it’s safer. Don’t be so lazy. At best you get the airbag light that has to be cleared by a dealer or durametric, at worst the airbag explodes in your face.
