Great video! Thanks for showing the "bloopers" .....sometimes things just don't work well. Thats more educational than showing everything going perfectly well.

I would suggest when anyone else attempts this they pry from the bottom strong part of the assembly first. By prying at the weakest section first you all but guarantee breaking old automobile plastics.

Thanks for this note, helped me pull my assemblies out without breaking them, I believe that's a first for this vehicle!

You have helped me so many ways and so many times with my 986. And although you no longer have one, the videos you have posted have helped all my challenged situations with his car. This particular video help me in a different way. I had already ordered and received the mirror covers that you have there. I was just going to the video to see how you install them because of the screws and the setup didn't make sense to me. After watching your video, I decided to try something different. I realized my housing would probably crack the way yours did. So I drilled into the two corners in the housing. And I added 2 1/8in plastic black tabs into the two small holes in the visor. I used hot glue to hold them in. I went to the car and used a utility knife to get the right length out from the visor and pop them right in. Job done! I really would have messed this one up ahead and not been for you making your mistake. By the way... I now have a pair of brand-new mirror covers available😊😊. Any takers?

Thanks for posting this up, I had enough of the 3D printed ones bouncing off the top frame when I hit a bump. Didn't even have to use the screws!

Have you run into the actual sunvisor that seems not to want to lock in the up position but a tendency to sag do you have a fix for that? appreciate it.

Any downside to replacing originals that have lights with these aftermarket visors. I can do without the lights, even the mirrors for that matter. (2001 986 S)

+Kamakauke Two great question. I’m not sure. Hopefully someone else can chime in. If you figure it out come back and let us know

Mine have the lighted version which makes it harder because there is no plug for the lights meaning I have to remove the whole visor to get to work on it.

The 3D printed ones look like junk, these LOOK a lot better. The angle of the screws is awful design though. The complete kit with frame is probably the better way to go, but I have the lighted version.

@@RockyTopAviator if the shoe fits...ummm, I guess...don't make junk? And obviously the Porsche ones are junk too, or we wouldn't all need to replace them.

Thanks for the vid Aaron.👍 Having attempted to repair my original visors a few years back i know how fragile those frames are, and after seeing what issues you experienced I'll be opting for complete unit. Good to see that these are finally being remanufacture, as the oem Porsche ones are terrible quality at an extortionate price.

@@jonedgar5996 Yeah I still think that's the way to go! Unless you're just really budget conscious, which I get too.
