Solid information. Thinking of using this to make custom fishing bobbers.

Be nice to know WHERE you can purchase a cork reamer of various size.

I like to get my tools from jannsnetcraft.com or mudhole.com. Both have reamer kits with four different sizes. Hope this helps.

TomKirkman1 Thanks I have a really nice full Wells rod but prefer half wells. I’m an engineer so have use of metal turning lathes, but have to consider the existing version rod blank.

Having now watched till the end, I can see I will need to work longer at slower speeds. One thing I would say is for your own sake lose the baggy sleeves when using the lathe, I’ve seen what can happen.....not nice Many thanks for showing your skills.

@@marknash4830 Thanks. Please note that the " baggy sleeves" are never anywhere close to the lathe. They stay above the elbow. But your point is certainly well taken.
@rodmakermagazine8485 жыл бұрын
@@marknash4830 Re-shaping existing grips that are already mounted to a rod blank is a tricky operation unless you have a specialty type rod building lathe that is equipped to handle the long lengths is a safe and desirable fashion. Nevertheless, it can be done if you are able to fab some good supports that keep the blank from "whipping" or being otherwise damaged.

should have no long sleeves as seen a man loose an arm because of this, if gets caught twists into tournique cuts off blood supply to the arm.only take a few minutes
@TomKirkman14 жыл бұрын
There are no sleeves anywhere near the turning. Bad camera angle. Nothing below the elbows. Not even close.
