Great fan of Jim Green shoes and business concept of sharing for the greater good, though I own only one pair of your shoes. Aren't "rough out" and "nubuck" two different things? The first being the rough inside of the pelt turned to the outside of the product, and the second being a light sanding/buffing of the exterior top grain of the pelt and used on the outside of the product? Both displaying a slight nap to the exterior but different sides of the leather.

I would buy these with a few changes from military experience: they need the African Ranger double layer toe (working on the floor, leopard crawl ect.) and single layer upper (more breathable, quicker to dry-can wax it for water resistance); Speed lace/D-ring eyelets all the way up (hooks are a no-no for airborne, regular rings are a pain to loosen around the lower section on top of your foot); Nitrile sole (Oil/acid resistant, non-marking ect.), Vibram Sierra is what i use to resole all my Jim Greens for personal use anyway (i like a natural/minimalist zero heel-toe drop). Nice to have: Switch to the STC last like the African Ranger; Offer a premium version with leather mid sole and EVA like the Boabab boot (but with the Vibram Sierra sole).

I fogot to add: there definitely needs to be an interior counter added like on Afrcan Rangers, it is where most of my shoes wear out that are not leather countered.

@@KIL390 I like a lot of your design ideas. Quick question - You said add an "interior counter" - do you mean in the heel? So there would be a leather liner/counter, then the leather of the upper, and a thermo-set plastic reinforcement, and finally an external counter? I just ordered a pair of the AR08 in rough-out brown with a toe cap added, but I didn't think to subtract the lining for weight and breathability, and I got the JG lug sole, but didn't think to add any EVA. I ordered 4 eyelets and 4 speed hooks, but agree with you about D-rings are probably better.

You know what would sell like hotcakes IMO ? A PNW-Style AR8 ! I'm thinking smooth brown uppers, roughout for everything else, lug sole. Maybe a toe cap too. Make them regular production and watch the cash roll in. If I hadn't just bought a pair of regular brown AR8 two months ago I would definitely custom order a pair. Maybe I will one day 🤔

If in production I would get two. One wedge sole one lug sole. I would wax the lug sole and keep the wedge sole unwaxed. One for work one for play.

This was the pair of boots that I had made. They are size 14. Sadly they do not fit my feet. (I'm a 14-15 D-EE depending on the boot) I would love to sell them to someone who could get some use out of them. If you're interested please reply back to my comment.
