Features: Blaine and his brother Todd Muhr of Francis, Saskatchewan and their water truck and sprayer trailer/tanker. The farmers chose a 2005 Peterbilt to put a salvaged 3800 gallon water tank on. That combined with the 1200 gallon tank on a trailer gives them around 5,000 gallons which is enough for 4 fills on their SP sprayer. The trailer also acts as a transporter for their large SP sprayer as well. The set up to them about 2 weeks to build with a total investment in materials of about $55,000.

In the mid 90s I worked for a Cenex driving the water truck. If we had five miles or less, we would road the sprayer, but over five miles it was faster to load sprayer on trailer.

Awesome setup, those guys know what they are doing, you got to love farmers! As for the water truck, if you want real fire fighting capability,, 1-man operation, connect the PTO pump to the tank, discharge to a remote control hydrant mounted up top, front of the tank! That little Honda might be fine for washing but not for a fire like what came thru northern Alberta

I’m really surprise you would use ditch water to spray. Even with multiple filters small particles would surely make nozzles plug.

350 is plenty. Saves fuel and still completes the job. 450 is better, but really not required.

NamiKaze 55g isn't bad considering the cost of the sprayer. Google it, you will never become a farmer lol. Combines are expensive too. What would you like to buy, this nice house in the country, or this combine.

teller of truth... so you are saying it would be more efficient to have a sprayer spending half of the day driving up and down the road between the field and a water source instead of spraying? Not to mention the other jobs they use the truck and tanker for which the sprayer cannot do.
@chucklesx
@chucklesx 7 жыл бұрын
teller of truth... it may not fill any useful purpose in your operation but that does not mean it does not work for these people. But #1 Just because the sprayer can drive up and down the road does not mean it is efficient to do so regarding time and tyre/machine/transmission wear. #2 Obiviously the fact that they transport the sprayer means they cover a large area (I am betting you don't have personal knowledge of their operation) #3 it is actually impossible to (even allowing the water source is close by which we don't know it could be 10 miles away, they may also use water from a treated/ softened source to increase the efficiency of their chemicals if they work in a hard water area... again we don't know) get down the road and fill the sprayer and get back as you suggest in the same time it takes to fill it in the field. #4 if you have a second person on the tanker they can have the next fill pre mixed and ready to go while the sprayer is doing it's job in the field, the same holds for collecting more water. #5 The sprayer has a very limited capacity for carry chemical concentrate around #6 As for being a keyboard warrior you are the one that posted a derogatory comment (twice in reply to two separate posts) calling the machine owner a fool for using equipment when you know nothing about their operation, nor do you know anything of my experience/ knowledge of the industry... so yeah probably best to pull your head in on that one. It is amazing to me that people are so arrogant that they feel they know more about someone else's business operation than they do.

teller of truth... lol, ok just to humour and educate you... it is a hydrostatic tranmission... ie great for infinitely variable speeds in field work but hugely inefficient for road or transport operations. You must work with some out of this world machinery if they don't use transmissions for converting engine power to movement.

teller of truth... you are just embarrassing yourself now man. We'll leave it there as you obviously are exactly what you are accusing me of being and as such there is no point in discussing the subject with you.

I don't understand - why do they need permits if they are only pulling on their land?
@jacobrowland9134

It said they had over 8000 acres they farmed. Traveling on roads public roads is how you get from one field to the next. If it is a perfect square and all connected you are looking at 12.5 miles from one side to the next. I doubt it is a perfect square if it is even all connected. Public roads would be the fastest way to travel.
