Nice work as usual Rob. Good to see that you put ear muffs on when hammering to shape the metal. I think so many people are not aware of how loud it really is and how easy it is to damage your hearing.

That tailgate skin is just like a drum, bang bang bang. Even in editing it was a drama. Industrial deafness is bit of a topic like depression, we all know about it and not enough is being done about it. Thank you for mentioning it. Cheers Rob.

Thanks for noticing the editing. It takes a lot of time to drop the machine sounds low enough to still be effective, but not blast the eardrums out! It will always be a work in progress, but it sure is fun to learn. Cheers, Deb

I was watching this and thinking about you leaving the paint on, then 5 seconds later ther person filming this asked the question, good timing :). I am enjoyin this and watching your technique. long videos, but hey, you got me in.

If I was going hard on this one I would just rip the paint off, but with it being a weekend project and winter time I have left it there to reduce the rust growing on it. Cheers Rob.

Rob, thanks for the informative video and the hard work to bring them to us. You make working the metal look easy and your running commentary on each step is inspiring. Your skill, knowledge and understanding of the physical properties of sheet metal make metal look like putty when you shape it. Best of all you make your metal shaping tools from what ever is in your workshop. A true craftsman!!

Hi Rob, It is looking good mate :). I was wondering if you get some time, I know you are busy cobber. Could you do a "Create your Own Tools Video" with some of the tools you have found helpful. I am trying to set up a work shop on a Budget I have a 3 in one welder and air compressor and have seen some of your custom tools you have made. Just a suggestion. Cheers :) J

I can do this, you sent me down memory lane a bit here. There are pieces of equipment and tools that I made as an apprentice, still being used in that business. It is something that I do without thinking about it, and I would say every project that I have been involved in has had unique tooling made for it. Should be interesting anyway. Cheers Rob.

Nice work. Will you be hinging the number plate like it’s done with HSV so the plate drops down with the tailgate and is still visible when open?

Looking great every episode Rob were you putting any reversing lights on the ends of the number plate opening? Or will it be all steel. Been watching your other channel also. Love your work. Keep em coming 👍👍

I thew around a few ideas along those line, and decided to leave the reverse lights in the tail light as per factory. I really like the HSV VE extensions, but they don't match the VY. One idea was to use VE tail lights for a really custom look, but the feature lines and seams on the VY quarters don't support the styling of the later tail light. Still I need something to think about. Cheers Rob.
