Nice work, will be following! It’s a bit of extra work but I have a video on using GOM to pull geometry from a scan and bring it in to fusion (Part 1 of my scan to part video scanning a VW MQ500 gearbox). Using an “OK” scan from a Pop 3 I’ve had measurements on bores within around 0.02mm repeatably and about the same positionally. Providing you have just part of a reference surface it extrapolates perfectly and doesn’t rely on trying to get a mesh section working well, generally a lot more accurate when it comes to needing geometry for dowels and alignment 😎

@LuisGonzalez-ds5mj8 күн бұрын
Hi, get the mech unit from many models that use Dq500, the only differences between the transmissions are the gear ratios. You can get custom tuning from someone like TVS and have the gear ratios adapted.
@NavySturmGewehrАй бұрын
Are you able to specify cut quality? They're cutting the profile pretty fast, but it was hard to tell how they did on the holes. I wonder if they just hone them or drill them after cutting.

Quite normal that the dowel pin holes on the scan might display slightly different diameters, the actual common value of which you can just set on the sketch from a reference or part spec search. How best however to establish each one's actual center, without worrying about a scan error of the order of the shown scanned diameter differences, if a trans is not at hand to check, for example, by superimposing a print of the sketch? Thanks, and great explanation of procedure to follow.

an LS fitting in the subframe lmao…truly no limits to where you can stuff that thing 😹😹😹
@CouchBuiltАй бұрын
Transmission for the LS is a bit more challenging, but I’ll do a video on alternative swaps in the future.
@frongicideАй бұрын
Check out a transverse LS4/4T80E combo :) It's not a direct bolt on as you have to do some clearancing, but it is solid and had been shown to handle 800hp in FWD W-bodies.

New to the project. I'm curious about the high rpm of 13B and the dq500s internal oli pump and possibly other parts not meant to rev that high What is the plan/thoughts?
@CouchBuiltАй бұрын
It’s a turbo motor, so it doesn’t need to rev to 10k. Based on the 8374 dynos I’ve seen, it should be good to shift around 7500.
@Jonny_transАй бұрын
You will want a oem Audi pilot bearing.
@CouchBuiltАй бұрын
The adapter is effectively the pilot. Everything is directly coupled and rotates at the same rpm. The only time a pilot bearing is relevant is when there’s a speed differential between the shaft and the assembly it passes through is not directly coupled.
@Jonny_transАй бұрын
@@CouchBuilt the Audi motor normally bolted to that transmission has a pilot bearing in the back of the crankshaft. I have personally seen issues with clutch adaptation if that is removed. Also the clutch cover seal on the input shaft will leak It wouldn’t be hard to chuck that aluminum adapter into a lathe and machine it for the needle bearing. This is assuming that aluminum component is bolted to the crankshaft and Audi factory dual mass flywheel
@CouchBuiltАй бұрын
What you’re saying makes complete sense and I think the key word there is removed. That leaves the input shaft free to flop around and create havoc in the resulting void. The way the adapter interfaces, the input shaft is a close tolerate fit to the bore. If that fit is comparable to oem pilot bearing, the result is the same with no speed differential. I assume VAG assembles all the motors the same, whether manual or dsg for part number simplification. The bearing, bearings on manuals and simply locates on dsg installs.
@Jonny_transАй бұрын
This might surprise you, the manual transmission 5cylinder cars actually don’t have a pilot bearing. There is speed differential because of the DMF absorbing rotational speed fluctuations of the Eshaft/crank shaft. I pretty familiar with these transmissions. The dmf has a large range of motion. Upwards of 90°

How are you get the axels in it looks tight
@CouchBuiltАй бұрын
Covered in other videos. Designed everything to fit.

@@CouchBuilt I’ll have to look through this is the first video I’ve watched interesting build and I love the integration of CAD. Do you remember which video in particular you covered the axels? Asking because I’ve toyed with the idea of doing a DQ250 mid engined car with an 07K
@CouchBuiltАй бұрын
@ralphmag3072 I believe my first intro video EP1, shows some of the axle location in CAD, as well as at the beginning of the Inconel turbo manifold CAD session. There will be more when it comes time to actually get the axles made.
@hairconditioner976Ай бұрын
will drive shaft fit becouse of turbo and intake
@CouchBuiltАй бұрын
Of course. That’s part of the reason why the turbo manifold is 3D printed Inconel.
