How do you get players to use terrain
@BlackMagicCraftOfficial5 жыл бұрын
I don’t even understand that question. If you’re running the game you’re in control of what’s being used, not the players. Just use it.

Frostgrave is a great game. It's what got me back into painting minis and gaming after a 20 plus year break. Those treasure tokens are on point. Keep up the great work!
@andrewsmith28805 жыл бұрын
I made my treasure tokens with: flat wooden discs (from Michael's) with a big spooge of hot glue, lego weapons (from LOTR sets), plastic jewels (also from Michael's) and glitter. I pressed the weapons and jewels into the glue while it was still warm, covered the rest of the disc in white glue and sprinkled glitter. Once dry, I hit them with a black wash and highlighted with gold glitter paint. I finished them with clear nail polish to make everything shiny and keep the glitter from falling off.
@bensaunders96235 жыл бұрын
I made my treasure tokens chests/sacks. I think that is thematically appropriate, as it explains encumberance and why you don't know what it is until later. However, having tried using them I realised it is helpful to have something very visible. I guess that's why piles of gold work well!

I've needed small bases that I use buttons for! Craft stores that sell fabrics as well usually sell those little containers of buttons that are all one color but multiple different sizes. Most have a solid side and a side with raised edges, but the buttons come in all different sizes and there's a good variety. With four small holes already in plastic it would fill pretty with with your favorite putty - MILLIPUT! that's the word I was looking for - or even just hot glue. It's a thought! Love your set up that goes from the stone center to the snow on the sides, it looks great! Each new detail comes together to make it cooler and cooler when you put the whole thing together in your videos.

Excellent finds in that bit box! Cool project, way to replace your tokens!
@AzraelThanatos5 жыл бұрын
One suggestion I have for taking them a step further is to get a sheet of the adhesive backed felt and attach it to the underside of the tokens, then use some paint to number them. Haven't played in a while, but I seem to remember there being a few scenarios where numbering the tokens is pretty much needed.
@BlackMagicCraftOfficial5 жыл бұрын
Have not run into that in any scenarios yet. But they each have a different item so numbering them would be redundant as they are already unique.
@AlexBabcock-hw9iz5 жыл бұрын
Think what he meant is after getting the treasures a dice is rolled and the number is used to know what treasure was found. Have to make a little flash card saying the sword is num 1 the two bottles are num 2 ect. Might just be easier to just write a number on the bottom.
@BlackMagicCraftOfficial5 жыл бұрын
But that’s not how treasure collection/roll up works after. Each token collected you roll on a table for the contents after games. The treasures aren’t numbered. There will sometimes be special treasures with unique contents but again you don’t need a number for that, just any identifier which these have.
@BlackMagicCraftOfficial5 жыл бұрын
Maybe there are some scenarios where the treasure is numbered before the game, but I have seen it yet.
@AlexBabcock-hw9iz5 жыл бұрын
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial Think I watched that game on here the other poster was talking about. Can't remember what channel it was though. They had 6 treasure tokens and 2 had something extra attached to them. I think one of the players got one and the other remained unclaimed. Not sure if it's just something they cooked up themselves or not. But it is kind of an interesting concept perhaps. Might change the dynamics of the game to maybe more ruthless bloody gameplay and tactics.

I did very similar to you about 3 months ago but used clear bases instead.... as I know there is a jungle version of frost grave too ;)
@darthcusm5 жыл бұрын
I had some of the Reaper Mini small bases and I used some of the GW Valhallen Blizzard Technical paint and bits from some of the Wizkids Unpainted mini lines that you used as well. I also took some larger Reaper bases and painted them gold or silver to place under the mini, the medium base fits perfectly inside, to designate they are in possession of the treasure. This allows less things on the board and if the character drops it you just place the original token back on the board.
@BlackMagicCraftOfficial5 жыл бұрын
I’ve been brainstorming a similar carrying treasure option and was thinking gold disk with magnets. You’re idea is perfect if I can find bases that fit like that!
@darthcusm5 жыл бұрын
I will take some pics when I get home. I know they are Reaper bases, not sure about the size.
@BlackMagicCraftOfficial5 жыл бұрын
What bases are your minis on? Mini are Reaper 1”.
@darthcusm5 жыл бұрын
I use a mix of minis from the D&D/Pathfinder pre-painted, and Wizkids unpainted line. The unpainted I put on the medium flat top Reaper 1" bases, I do not like the Wizkids thin bases included in the unpainted series. The ones I painted are a touch larger IIRC and I think they are the 32mm, will verify later.

So when is the next room tour update? It looks awesome now. How do you like the all black thing? Sure it looks freaking amazing and matches with your channel "BLACK magic craft", but do you find it too dark sometime? When the kids leave the house, I'd love to have a room like this.
@BlackMagicCraftOfficial5 жыл бұрын
I like the all black. It's less distracting and highlights the objects rather than the walls and furniture. It's great for filming BUT it requires a LOT of directional light to set up each shot. Sometimes there are 5 big studio lights just to light me and the background, this means it will be very difficult to effectively film a room tour. I will eventually, it's just that it will be very hard to do.
