In this video I design and build a custom TV lift cabinet for a client. The constraints on the height dimension of the cabinet forced me to create my own custom lift mechanism that would allow the client to lift the tv up into the viewing position with 1 hand. This was a challenging project to work out but I'm very happy with the results.

Man...this is pure genius. The lift mechanism is really really smart. The build as a whole also looks great.

This is so rad! I was trying to figure a way to make a manual lift that wouldn't cost almost as much as my tv, I did not expect to find a whole tutorial! Thanks!!

If anything goes wrong with that you're probably gonna have to buy a new television anyway.

This is actually exactly what I’m aiming at , when you look up tv lifts and stuff they are crazy expensive

At the beginning of the video you proved my point. A outfeed table is the best way to go, you have to keep it cleaned off. Were also alike in the painting department.

excellent work!!! I'm doing something similar in my 5th wheel RV. But had a question: "I was thinking of adding some sort of a pneumatic piston to ease the elevation of the TV. Mine is larger and heavier. So curious on your thoughts for mounting them into the assy. I love the idea of the full extension drawer guides. I was going to make some sort of scissor lift with some all thread and some type of motor. but your way is simpler. Just add the pneumatic pistons to pull it up easier. Your thoughts?

This is so good. Just wondering where the wiring for the TV enters the box?

Good stuff! We are in the planning stages of turning our sun-room into our master bedroom and having a TV lift in the footboard of the built-in bed.

Enjoyed project. The TV mechanism was time consuming and a lot of work, but turned out very nice. Curious about the shop - Is it a free standing building? Can you describe the shop? Is there a shop tour video?

Donald Shulman thanks! I’m in the lower level of a three story building. My shop is 3 rooms, woodshop metal shop and machine shop, in total I have about 3,000 square feet. I’m hoping to have a shop tour up soon!

Hi, I’m looking for a similar build for my 40” tv in my bedroom. I have found sliders that can extend from 22 inch to 44 inch. I was wondering if you have used any heavy gliders. I’m afraid the gliders will not be stable enough. What do you reckon?

I’m trying to design a hidden space in a room I’m renovating , it will have a small bookcase built into the wall but when it swings out I wanna hav a small box in the opening that will lift from the ground up into the cavity .. if that makes sense ,, I am having a hard time coming up with something for it to ride on . Something similar like this I think will work .. any ideas you could throw my way wold be appreciated .if you need further explanation I can try lol thanks man love the Chanel

Just out of curiosity, Where are the cables going to pass thru? from the bottom of the cabinet?
@MakeEverything
@MakeEverything 6 жыл бұрын
grandn 86 yes, this cabinet is located at the foot of their bed so the cables come out of he bottom of the cabinet through a hole, and pass under the bed to some outlets.

Where’s the motor that actually lifts the tv ? Aside from that your awesome
@MakeEverything
@MakeEverything 4 жыл бұрын
Davvybunns 1234 there is no motor, the height constraints didn’t allow for a off the shelf motorized unit, and neither did the budget to make one from scratch. A couple months later I did do another one with a motor tho. Thanks for watching!

it would be cool if there was a way to make it so that the tv came up with lid in one motion.
@bromarvids5186
@bromarvids5186 3 жыл бұрын
Pretty cool. I would have definitely put the trims on after and not make a outside trim frame. Also the lid doesn't look flush with the box at the end there. Other than that it's pretty awesome and you did a great job. I need to make one for my girlfriend, but I may make it slightly differently. Thank you for some inspiration.
