That is a genius solution to an old yellowed toy. This is brilliant :D

Pure genius @toypolloi the pauldrons look amazing on the smaller and the larger scale figures 👍👍👍

I've always thought the bright orange pauldrons look the coolest on Stormtroopers, but the brown definitely suits this nicotine trooper.. I mean, sand trooper! :D

That does work very well indeed. Nice one. I might be tempted to use some of that 'pleather' to make capes for the Kenner/Palitoy 3.75 inch Darth Vader, too - I always hated their stiff PVC capes, and replaced mine with fabric. The 'pleather' might fall better, being heavier, and looser in texture than PVC.
@salfordnurse5 жыл бұрын
I’m lucky to have a large fabric store in my town centre, and they have lots of material extremely cheap, as well as an off cuts bin. I bought a large sheet of the pleather (though a much thicker), then bought a large Jakks Pacific Batman, and used it for a replacement cape.

I think I dig the pleather material better than the vinyl for the small 3 3/4 troopers after seeing this custom! Excellent work

This looks incredible! You could have spent HOURS trying to get that same kind of patina/look with paints and washes. Such a great outcome. When I say you post the still on Instagram I was hoping that you would do a video to follow up. Cheers.

Looks great. Love the sandtroopers. Did you know that the screen used pauldrons were already existing 1970s skateboard chest protectors? You can see them in use also on the death star gunners chest. That's the genius of SW.

I didn't know that. But it's not surprising they re-used something like that. Looks great in the film.

Awesome video as usual! I was wondering, does anyone have any tips for removing old super glue? I bought a lot of figures with their arms glued straight out and I’m not sure how to remove the super glue without damaging them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is there a reason for cutting the template first, rather than cutting both it and the material at the same time?

goo.gl/images/Yve6Gz The pauldrins on the sandtroopers had a strap connecting the front to the back that went under the arm. This addition might make the fit better.

Lord Vader isn't going to be happy when he finds out rebels blew up his caramel supply. A cheap way to get leather materials is to go to a thrift store and buy old brief cases or suit carriers. They are cheap and contain a lot of materials. Also what happened to the swanky music while cutting the pattern, are you trying silent pictures? J K
