Thanks a lot man, I am writing to you from 2023) Thanks to your instructions, I have managed to create and deploy WS 2019 and W10Pro 2H22 images with RDP access. Attention those who need RDP access! Make sure you FULLY disable the Windows Firewall for all networks when creating the .img image and enable the remote access option before packing it into .gz. You should do both of these things at once, because after you have packed the image and then deployed it to Digital Ocean, you will no longer have VNC access and will have to do everything over again! If you have the firewall turned off and you have packed with the firewall turned off and remote access enabled, then you will be able to connect to it via RDP as soon as you have created a droplet of your image. Then configure the cloud firewall in the DO and close all incoming ports except the RDP port.

Hi Everybody, I managed to get the RDP working on Windows Server 2012 image. You have to open Windows Firewall Inbound rules, and allow Remote Desktop (Public) both for TCP and UDP. I hope this will help you.

Thanks for the instruction. She is good. I think a second part is needed. RDP does not work on the installed OS, and after rebooting the server from ubunutu, you can not connect to the server from the WIN. I see that many people have this problem. For rdp, I think I need instructions on port forwarding through ubunutu so that when connected to ubunutu, she knows where to redirect the connection. When connecting via VNC, you also need to somehow tell the program what we want to connect to. On ubuntu, in general, there can be several images from Win and they must somehow differ for connections

@@superch4358 I really don't remember if I was able to fix the issue or not. But you can try and use other windows versions; there were some templates that worked fine, but I don't really remember which.

I had no idea that QEMU was a hypervisor that would run Windows from the "empty" .img file and the two ISO files, so I waited endlessly. I thought the Windows installation process would occur after creating a droplet with the zipped .img.qz file. But after watching the video closely again, I realized that the .img file is modified during a VNC session in which the Windows installation takes place. So I did that, stopped QEMU and zipped the new .img file. But what do I do now with the .img.gz file. Can I create a standalone Windows VM "droplet" with it? Or is that not possible on Digital Ocean? Do I have to keep running the QEMU Windows VM within the Ubuntu droplet?

some considerations: 1. you have vnc open for the whole world while installation process. Isn't too safe You should at least password protect your connection. Better way is using VeNCrypt abilities. Also you can restrict vnc to localhost IP only or start it on UNIX-socket and transfer connection over SSH-tunnel. 2. dd-ing vm's disk while vm is still running isn't good idea, it's better to shutdown virtual machine first And my main question is: Is it possible to upload prepared in such a way image to DigitalOcean and start a droplet from it? Your video doesn't cover this moment may be because it would be a way for breaking the license terms? (As they claim you can only use Linux) (UPD Then I've found your another video when you're copying prepared image to a droplet's virtual drive so now I see) Won't platform ban me for running Windows? Does it have compatible processor type to run Windows without performance issues?
