I think its more the responsibility of the business owners to train their staff. We focus on making money and forget about customer service. We also need to set an example of how to treat people. Most business people have no idea what goes on day to day, they just come in to collect the day's takings. Even people who have lived in the so called 'first world' and experienced good customer service are just the same. If we don't set the standard as business owners the workers will do whatever they want.

If I was an employer in Zim, all my employees would be on Zero contract hours, ie, pay them an hourly rate. The problem is as I perceive it, is that workers are on a monthly wage irrespective of performance. They actually do not care, very few do. They know come end of the month they get paid irregardless. In the diaspora most people work these Zero contract pay hourly rate jobs. This system motivates people to actually work a lot harder and put in more hours. The more hours you put in the more money you earn! Simple. You don’t work satisfactorily you get your marching orders on the spot. Someone else is waiting in the wings to jump into that job!
@Nokutenda774Ай бұрын
Yes, that’s the way to go. In the UK you are paid for the hours you worked. There is no plying at work. Imagine, you can try 10 dresses in the shop but they are still nice to you because they know without you there is no job and no job no pay.

Thank you mama for pointing this out. You are speaking for a lot people. Its rampant everywhere. The first thing you encounter is the greeting. Unosvikonzi zvirisei mudhara by someone who's the the same age as your grandchild. I always give a two minute lecture when I come across such behaviour. The staff in my local Electrosales all now know that when sekuru enters the greeting is either 'good morning or good afternoon depending on the time of day. I have walked into shops where I'm confronted by this attitude you almost feel like you're trespassing. The level of ignorance that has permeated our country is scary. The saddest thing about this is that these attitudes have set their roots so deep its almost a lost cause. To put it crudely, we are getting uncivilised. Try driving in Harare. Its a madhouse.

This country will humble you. It will teach you patience and that’s a good thing. We are in the end times and it will be invaluable…..😂 welcome home.

I once arrived at a reception and the receptionist was eating sadza with here hands talking to us with food in her mouth. While we were asking questions, she would continue to eat as if we were having a conversation over lunch.

🙈🤔We really need people to respect themselves first, then it will trickle down hopefully to respecting people we interact with. It's a shame really

I was at home in Bulawayo in September the only place l experienced excellent service was at passport office, l was surprised because years ago it used to be extremely bad. The rest of the places l went to the service was shocking.

South Africans are polite. It's the foreigners who are spoling our name. Most employers prefer hiring them to South Africans. Ungasfaki thina!
