I was a skip tracer for 20+ years. When I assigned a repo to a agent. I asked them to please be professional to the customer they are having a financial problem. Lot of times I gave help to a customer for consumer support service, I've been through it my self. The customer called me back to thank me.

@@raccuia1 true but always make sure you have a way to work. Friend/Relative/Neighbor/Coworker/Public Transport. Cant fix the problem if you cant make a paycheck. Many times I've seen people prioritize the wrong thing. Worked at rent a center corporate and did reporting. It was sad to see people would rather return the oven/microwave but keep the TV as a example.

I bought a new car and moved from Indiana to Florida. Financed by GMAC. I left my apt one morning and my car was gone. I called the police and they said it had been repoed. I called an attorney and he said the judge hated GMAC. I was not behind but they just said it was because I had moved. The judge made them give my car back and re-pay my expenses.

How "late" do you give? I had a 2013 Hyundai I was 6 months behind on when I got a notice to pay or surrender. Some of these pay here lots are shysters that repo on one late payment.

Only once did the Buy Here Pay Here lot miss up the books.I was current on payments ( yes bank statements to prove along with receipts) the repo guy showed up. Called the lot and spoke with manager. Sent proof ( email ) they apologized and dropped the car. The mistake never happened again. Mistakes do happen. I was polite and friendly also!

Two things I notice: 1: The guy in the blue shirt does not have his seat belt on. 2: To make sure you have the correct car. He doesn't check the VIN, VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. If you take the wrong car, your in trouble.

I’ve heard once it ain’t no joke if. You don’t pay that note. One the best ways to avoid a situation like that is buy it outright . I know everyone’s situation is different. I know it’s easer said then done . If you don’t pay within a time frame they will auction it off & sell it for what the lender can get out of it .Then in turn if there’s a balance you,ll be responsible & there’s a possibility the lender could sue & you’ll have a repo on your credit report. You think bankruptcy is bad . Repossession is worse . It’s nice to want things but can’t live beyond your means. Some have champagne taste on a beer budget that never works . If you must finance a vehicle ect it’s best to pre approved by a Credit union . Try to find out what your payment will be & if it’s well with then your budget. If not try to save up I know it’s easer said then done. You don’t want a repossession.

I drove tow truck and Repossessed many vehicles over those years. I can't remember how many i had to Repossess but it was around 1200 vehicles. I live in Canada so thing are a lot more calm here because the average person can not get a hand gun. There was only 5 repo's that went bad. I had a rifle pulled on me trying to repossess a car just off of a native reserve. I was run over and had my legs broken, 1 arm got broke. Another one was on a native reserve and the guy released his dogs on us. I got bit but my buddy got chewed on for a few minutes before I broke the dogs jaw. And the last one was a little women I will call her was beating me with a baseball bat as I was hooking up her car. She ended up getting 15 years in prison for that one.
