My 2000 s10 cost $15,000, 20 years later and 5 4l60e rebuilds and $10,000 the cost of the s10 was $25,000. The worst transmission ever. I never towed, raced etc. It is a POS.

Gotta know what your doing when you rebuild them often times the valve body and pump are overlooked. Especially the tcc valve, pressure regulator bore, and multiple areas in the vb develop cross leaks. We always go back with a new Sonnax vb, and a remanufactured pump. We haven’t seen an issue since making the switch. Finicky transmissions. Nothing like back in the day.

@@FSPtransmissions At first, it was mostly the sun shell, reverse reaction gear, I think they are the same thing. The mechanic was supposed to be the "best." On the last one, I just wanted a GM reman, $2,500 and 36,000 miles 36 months. He said no, that's a bad option, his rebuilds were better with a 12,000-mile 12-month warranty. BS! I paid him $2,800 new pump, tc, electronics, etc. I probably ran it less than 20k miles. My first car was vw bug, 1971 with 150k miles. Nothing ever done to the trans and i drove it another 150k. Than a 1985 toyota corolla with 90K. I put 200k on it and never did anything to the trans. I know that I will never have another GM and probably never have an american made from the big three. In the bug and corolla it was unheard of to service the trans. On my 2017 nissan frontier I do it as suggested and the diff. These things are too F$$$$ expensive to not service.

Ignorant question but why do you reuse some parts?

Because new ones aren't free.. I rebuild airplane engines and we have tolerance lists where some parts can be re used. We only replace faulty or problematic components because if you're going to replace every component then you just as well buy a brand new unit.
