It’s unbelievable what kind of cars you can see on the road in USA. I am from Germany and you wouldn’t see broken cars on the road due to TUV every two years. And let’s say you cheap fix your car and got into an accident, an expert will check your car after the crash and if he/ she find any cheap DIY repair which was not done properly and TUV approved, you don’t get any issuance money for your car, but also have to pay the cost for the other party.

In Australia, if a car is at a mechanic and it is unroadworthy, the mechanic will be fined if they allow the vehicle to be driven away. Australian police can stop any vehicle at anytime and give it a roadworthy check, if it doesn't pass a defect sticker is placed on the windscreen and the only way to get the defect notice removed is if it passes a department of transport inspection. The majority of American built cars are not considered roadworthy in Australia, especially American pick-up trucks that need extensive work before they are allowed on Australian roads.

I'm actually glad we have a mandatory inspection every 2.nd year here in DK. The inspection is performed by independent state licensed specialty shops who does not offer repairs. If the car fails inspection - its off the road - right there - no mercy. In UK its even more stringent - with mandatory inspection once a year. Its astonishing that USA as the country of cars does not have such a system.

I had a customer bring in a car, saying that the brakes were making noise. Took it for a test drive. If you just touched the brake pedal the front brakes would look up. Put it on the hoist pulled the tires and could not believe what I saw. The The pads were gone the piston in the caliper would come out cock sideways and jam in the fins of the rotors, both sides. There were literally no rotors surface left. This was both sides. Showed the customer he said wow that’s bad. Gave him a price for rotors, calipers and pads. I gave him a break on the hourly and 10% off parts price. He stared at me and said put the tires back on. He said he would drive it like it was. I told him I couldn’t because it was a hazard to, he said he would call the y. So I put the tires back on. He asked what he owed me. I told him to get that piece of shite out of my shop. A friend of mine had to take his car to a garage for some repairs and when they put it up on the lift the lift pads on the lift’s arms went thru the frame. The frame was so rusted and rotten they won’t allow him to drive it home it was that bad. Living in the Northeast the salt both granular and liquid the highway departments use during the winter eats those frames and other metal parts. Washing your under carriage with soapy water and going to a car wash that has an undercarriage wash will keep that calcium at bay. Thanks for the video.

Yes, a lot of vans don't have a rear window. But it is clearly a disadvantage and if you can have one, it's stupid to black it out. I used to drive a van like that for work and you have to check the side view mirrors way more and backing up can be a bit scary. Sometimes you have to get out and check behind the car. If the person has choosen to black out the window, I am guessing they don't care to do that.
