8:45 I work at a Lexus Dealership, the new IS 300/350/500 destroy tires, the front wipe out both edges in most cases and the rear wipe out the inner edge (-2 degrees of camber is spec for rear). Most of them are getting 4 tires at 20k-30k miles.
@snowrocketАй бұрын
Most people would be surprised at how a little change in camber or toe can affect tire wear or straight line tracking. A LOT of newer vehicles have negative camber at least at the rear, sometimes both front and rear. More than likely, your tires will wear out on the inside more than the outside, even if you rotate them.

In the UK, we have a mandatory safety inspection for every car over three years old. This is called the "Ministry of Transport" test (MoT). The history, status and mileage from every test of every car is publicly available on the government web pages. Additionally, the insurance company "write off" status for every car is also publicly available. This reduces the chance of a car having its mileage altered, stops dangerous cars being "inadequately repaired" and gives potential buyers an awareness of a car's history. The above keeps death traps off UK roads.

He also taught me how to check and change my own oil, keep the recommended amount of air in my tires, check and fill the basic fluids, and also taught me how to extract and replace a battery safely and in which order you hook the positive and negative terminals up. Let me give you peeps a tip when shopping for a used car: Tell the person selling it that you'd like to take it for a good, real-life test drive, and that it may take 45 minutes. Leave your car behind, be honest, don't rob the guy. THEN DRIVE TO YOUR MECHANIC who knows you're on your way. Have him put it up on a lift. I am a mechanic, and I can make a BASIC determination is SECONDS. Yes, a good inspection must go much deeper, but with rust like that shown starting at 1:25, I can shut down any further need for investigation. You should always befriend a mechanic, that's just a life hack. You may pay me $20 to hit my roll-on lift, but in the case shown, I could have saved you $6,480, and it would have taken SECONDS. The same advice goes for a home buyer- hire a home inspector, and if the seller has mentioned they don't like that idea after mentioning it previously, have him tag along as a "friend". As a consumer, YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT to protect your money. Anybody opposed to taking a car to a mechanic is the wrong person to buy from. Walk away.

When i got my new car i was guilty of the same thing that lexus was. Didnt notice until the low tire pressure light came on before driving and i inspected and felt the wires, didnt dare go on the highway and immediately went to the nearest tireshop. Now i keep a very close eye on everything

Here's an idea- get a car you are considering buying inspected BEFORE buying!

Sad part of this video is it lets you know that people like this may be driving right next to you on the road. Frightening thought

I’m so glad I don’t live in the rust belt. So many vehicles on the road that are completely rotted away.

LOL the "monstrous plug" 👾

7:11, that is a magnetic repair plug. You thread it into stripped out holes. The end pops out with a pair of pliers. Cheaper than a new pan and a better repair than those self-tapping oversized plugs. I have installed a couple of them to get a customer back on the road quickly after someone else stripped the threads out.

Nice Caddy-camino at the end. Likely a funeral home flower car. There was one sitting next to an autoparts store in my neighborhood in the mid 70's for $1200 but I was too young and didn't have the $$.

My mechanic likes me. I like to fix my own stuff. Every time I have to make the push of shame, he gets a good laugh. When I'm in over my head, I tell him exactly where I got stuck, so he doesn't need to navigate my mess

7:42 After seeing a bunch of clips like this, I learned that an automatic gearbox is not for people who like to put stuff on/around the shifter.

Friend of mine bought a car from a used car dealer. When he went to register it that's when he found out it was STOLEN. Boy did the cops have questions for the dealership.

Whoa! Yeah that should have come up when the dealer got the title.

This is what happens when there’s no state safety inspections!
