I bought a 99 crown vic PI for $60 title and all before, with a dropped ball joint. Body clean as ever, ran and drove great til the ball joint quit. Huge rust hole in front passenger frame. No fender rust either. Shame I couldn't afford to keep it though, and it unfortunately went to a derby.

It’s a ranger they do that in the rust belt
@edsloan85352 жыл бұрын
@@makpsv My Bronco looked just like that when I junked it....body was pristine but everything under it rotted. It was a newer manufacturing process of stamping brackets, control arms and shock tower mounts where the metal rotted in flaking layers. You could actually see the layers in the metal after failure. This was not a normal type of rusting where holes would form. Ford never di recall a glaring safety issue.

But probably not so much in countries with compulsory annual inspections. I did some research into causes of death in the US and UK. I'm surprised that first one being a Dakota, the '99 (late model)-'06 Silverado's were notorious for this happening because the shackle holding the rear of the leaf spring would rust and fail. My dad's truck had it happen to both sides (didn't wear through like this, though). We suspect that's why the rear u-joint was so messed up, it threw everything out of alignment (which I had to fix too).

I like the "Rolled" channels. It helps me understand which vehicles to avoid buying. Also, I wish I could ID the exemplary car owners I should avoid. I'm having nightmares they're heading straight at me on the highway. Another wish: I'd like to see some rolled ins on large commercial vehicles. Tractor trailers, school buses, box trucks, Rent-a-Trucks, etc.
@MrSirwolf2001 Жыл бұрын
Trust me, the number of things that you don't want to know about is beyond abundant. Hoods held on by packing/duct tape/cargo straps/wire/ baling twine; Vice grip shifters/steering wheel (I wish that I were joking); Wheels held on by single lug nuts; ...in short, everything that you see here and sooo much more. Fortunately, you are FAR less likely to see a rolled in with a commercial vehicle due to regular DOT inspections, including roadside and the substantial fines involved in them (think $50.00 per non-working light BULB, required or not) payable on the spot!

Cars & bikes have to stay well built it seems to function for any length of time .. electronics such as computers too. Everything else though, consumer grade, is designed to fail or for impossibly light duty. All made in China junk, built as light as possible with relatively short service lives. Been doing a lot of home improvement lately and just disgusted at some of the crap the big hardware chains stock. You can get quality and durability still but for many things, not from them. Point being that durable items can be repaired quite often, but since so many things are considered disposable, there may come a time when no one can fix them, so continual replacement of sub standard junk will be necessary ..
Customer states I'm a idiot, well this episode sure proves that. Loved the last clip nothing like burning rubber.

He fixed it by bolting pieces of wood to the springs to keep them in the bed. He ended up giving me the truck and I immediately bought a $40 set of hangers and fixed it. Also the frame was broken and I fixed it with some weld steel. Sold it for $1000 by some guy that didn't care that it had no shock mount anymore.
