Hey everyone, I hope everyone is well.
Welcome to another Sunday evening video. Todays video is about a brick cleaning job I carried out recently. This customers house was getting taken over by ivy. The customer had removed the ivy long before I arrived, so unfortunately I can't show what it looked like previously. But once the main body of ivy was removed, they were left with the familiar, unsightly tendrils that always seem to be left behind.
So that's where I come in!
Hope you enjoy the transformation, Nick.

You never realize how much ivy can damage things. It’s pretty but it can take over quickly. Didn’t realize how dull it can leave a house looking with its tendrils though. Wonderful job Nick! ❤

Nicely done Nick, brilliant job as usual. Also I have to agree on doing bottom to top, easier to see where you've already done too as the bit above will still be mostly dry. Do it the other way and the whole lot below will be wet and more difficult to see what still needs doing. Thanks very much for the upload, have a great week!

Hey, Nick! This was yet another first - ivy tendrils! I know it's damaging, but I love the look of ivy on rosy red brick. I'll bet that house was really pretty covered in leafy green, waving in a good breeze... I think that spot over the door was probably originally spilled paint and they ground the paint off of the bricks. It makes me wonder if he doesn't know that, perhaps because he's the one who spilled it and thought it was residual paint rather than just the gleam of a smooth surface and some color removal. This was a nice, no-drama job for you again! Steel yourself - just means there's another angry neighbor in your near future! 😂 Hope your week is a lovely one, Nick! 🩷

Hey Lucinda. I'm the same as you, I love ivy, I have English ivy growing on one wall of my house, and Virginia Creeper on the other. They can easily grow out of control as i'm sure you know, so every 6 months I trim it back and shape it. People are always saying to me "you should rip that out before it takes over and damages you bricks" my response is always "nope, I like it there or I wouldn't have planted it " 😆. Have a great week too 🥰

I had some of this on our house when we moved in. I got it off with a wire brush, didn’t even consider a pressure washer might be able to tackle it. Using water I would worry some of it would become invisible until it dried out again after - a lot easier though

I was actually child free for my birthday night this week (and partner free as he was on a late shift) so restful, all the 5's 55 getting old 😂 The brickwork looked lovely and was probably breathing a sigh of relief at finally being clean and rid of every scrap of ivy. Nice work, Nick! Ivy tendrils can be so nasty... Is it very different to remove them from render than from bricks? We don't have much brickwork in my country, most tendrils are on render. Though it's getting rarer since people seem to not like Ivy anymore. The trend goes towards very colorful render instead, I recently saw an extreme case: Two apartment buildings with four colors at the front.

Great job as always Nick. 👍 My guess would be a spill of paint or maybe the bitumen when the porch roof was done and wire wheeled off. Once it’s smooth it will always look different. Could maybe mix some brick dust with something sticky or brick dust in brick paint to rematch the finish but probably on a loser.
