I was just writing to someone else about the horrors of NOT having a cash option. They are tracking your purchases anyway (if not by discount code being punched in at the time of your purchase--Kroger Card, let's say--they have you on camera). They likely know what is in your trash, ffs. It's when we have no cash option, that we will be truly phukt. There's going to be a 99% (of all income) carbon fee, a Breathing fee, a walking fee, a driving fee, a bicycle fee, a day that ends in Y fee... Good luck getting anything that THEY decide is not in your best interest. I lost both of my parents by the time I was 25yo. I don't need a pack of horrifying twisted ghouls playing parent to me and restricting my choices. If I want a beer, I want a bloody beer. (But not before all the taxes fees and any other dreamt-up reason they take all our income.) Got a ticket outstanding? Yeah, good luck getting toilet paper before that fine is paid. They'll just decide that 99% of anything leftover is their carbon tax. This from the people who flit about the planet in their private jets.

I actually had a Walmart Manager tell me I needed to go through self checkout. I had to explain to him that I did not work for Walmart and would not be using self checkout. I am retired and do not frequent stores that have only self checkout. Unfortunately, the young adults have been brainwashed to do it.

Last Weekend we went to Home Depot to get a Milwaukee deal for Black Friday... It was around 7pm and 5 of these packs were metal cabled together - finally found a sales agent but they could not find a key to unlock & separate 1 pack. They tried for 15mins unsuccessfully. I looked at the pack and lock/chain and told them there was no electrical circuit on the lock so cutting it would not set off an alarm - they disagreed but I proved it by showing the cable was not connected. Anyway, I also said look - the cable goes thru the pack at the hanger hole - if you cut it there, I will get it over to cashier. Battery pack in hand to only human cashier at the other end. Very very frustrating & I held it up as I walked to check out to make sure video surveillance did not think I was stealing it. This is getting ridiculous - locking everything up for security is one thing but that store did not have many active staff to service customers in unlocking items needing to be bought.

I was just at a Lowes buying a few items. Of course I was having trouble with the self checkout. An Items price did not show the markdown. An employee saw me and came over, did there best to help, but had to call another employee higher up the totem pole that knew the correct code. I asked them about the empty checkouts. At my Home Depot there are only two registers open with people for contractors. Those registers talk non-contractors too. But the registers are only open until 5:00 PM. After we found that out, we are making a point not to go to Home Depot after 5:00 PM. The Lowe's by us is ALL self-serve registers. Other than those two store, there aren't any hardware stores left around us. They all went out of business when Home Depot and Lowe's moved in.

By the second month they closed my account and sent me a cashier's check saying they could not identify me... I went to the bank to cash the cashier's check.. They told me they could not cash it because the ending balance was 33 cents and they are a change less Bank... They couldn't even honor cashing their own cashier's check with my funds... I said can I still cash it I don't have to have the 33 cents change back.. They said they weren't able to... This was a credit union mind you 🤷🤦🤬

I pulled all of my money out of banks a few years ago due to these fees. I've had no issues with credit unions because they are owned by the people. As far as Home Depot, my issue with them is the fact that they now have cages, where most anything I'd be wanting to look at are locked up, due to what's being allowed to happen in large cities with crime not being prosecuted below a certain dollar limit. I'm in a rural community where the crime is almost non-existent, but the corporate offices are mandating rural stores follow the same policies as those in crime-ridden cities. It's ridiculous.

They are worn out and don't work/malfunction. And, almost impossible to find a checkout to use cash. So, I was so frustrated trying to spend literally $350 on a tool and having it not work I walked out without it and ordered it on Amazon. Wasting more of my time complaining to someone at HD and having them ignore me wasn't an option. It's literally made difficult to transact there. Nuts for a business! GET NEW CARD READERS HD!

So I was at a Home Depot a week ago, and in the self-checkout lanes checking out. The young man (guessing 20 yr old) overseeing the self-checkout area gets on his radio for his next level up person to come urgently. The lady in the self-check lane behind me walked out after ringing up $600+ without paying. I said to the young man, "that's horrible!" His reply, "It's not on me, I just make minimum wage!" - So sad that is the mindset of that young man, or any age person, and the effort they want to put forth. Yes, I'm sure HD has some crappy rule about confronting theft, but seriously. Welcome to the end times.

What about “self pump gas” after almost 40 years (2 generations) you don’t complain about that, and that’s a possible explosion readymade to happen. Lots of people love SCO and prefer to do it themselves.

They normally have 1 or 2 employees at the self checkout area watching and helping the customers and their transactions.

Jersey. You are not (or were not, it's been a while) allowed to pump your own gas in Jersey. Or did something change in the last 30yrs?

I’ve had the cashier manager check me out at the self checkout because I refused to check myself out. My mom was a checker at the grocery store for decades. It used to be a decent job.

I don't use cash since I get Amazon points.....I don't get benefits for using cash and IF I run into an issue in self checkout and get no help, I walk to the next self check out until I get the price I want.

I was at the grocery store last night, and the self checkout lanes (x6) was longer than the two lanes with a checker. Who you have thunk it...guess how I checked out.

I have a very small chain grocery store in my little town of Meyers CA that has refused to check me out unles I used their self checkout. I explained to her like you did what I was doing and her response was to treat me like an idiot and offer to do self check for me. I left my stuff and offered good luck to her.

Thank you for your output. Cashless society's give them ultimate power and control. People better start resisting this before it's too late.
