SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX) - You might think a safe deposit box is the safest place for your most valued possessions, but according to a growing number of safe deposit box customers, you’d be wrong.
Three different Bank of America customers say they were blindsided when the bank recently drilled and emptied their safe deposit boxes without their permission or the required notice. They say the bank then lost or damaged tens of thousands of dollars worth of property that was removed from those boxes.
However, most shocking for some, the bank drilled the boxes due to missing account information that the customers say the bank had all along.

When I first walked into a B of A, one of the bankers actually SNEERED at me! Also, when I was unable to match my checkbook with what the phone banking service was telling me, I went in to talk to a banker, and have her double check it with me. She said they didn't do that. Things got better after that, but I do think they had been screwing with my account. Anyway, the bank closed down in my town afterward. So, maybe they were messing with other people's accounts too.

Always use a separate lockable (or permanently sealable) box that fits into the safe deposit box to hold your items. So if the safe deposit box is drilled open for any reason, the bank can ONLY move the internal box, without cutting it open. This prevents "picking goodies" out of your stuff to conveniently lose!

are you this unaware ? are you lying to yourself so much that you don't actually see what's going on ? dude, they broke into your safety box without letting you know. the correct course of action would have been to let you know that the items are being moved, but they didn't. which means that they can steal from you, and the police does nothing, because apparently the law says that once you gave your items to the bank, the items belong to the bank. you want compensation ? bad luck, the law does not cover this unless it's a high amount, maybe millions. it's theft and you guys have no more law in america. everyone sees this, except americans. it's like the "emperror has no clothes" story. dude, you comfort yourself thinking "yeah america it's a great place, this is why everyone wants to come here" but the reality is different. have you noticed what sort of people want to migrate to america these days ? thugs, criminals, psychopaths and all forms of low life. why does this sort want to go to usa ? @@glasslinger this is not the case anymore. this was the case up until the late 90's and early 2000's. you still think it's true because of the inertia and because people lie to themselves that all is fine. none of the ones i know wants to start something in the usa anymore, in fact 1 of my friends already moved his offices to singapore. he had quite a big tech company and he was literally forced to meet the diversity quota. so more than a third of his employees were pakistani and indian. in about 5-6 months the toilets began to smell, and the over all atmosphere in the office was awkward but at this point he had no idea. then he noticed people leaving and he didn't gave too much thought about it, and he accepted the requests of the pakistani and indian employees to call their friends/cousins/etc to fill in the vacant places. well, in 2 years time, productivity is at an all times low, creativity sucks, and indian and pakistani are natural enemies to each other and they even had a real war not so long ago. so.... he decided to close down the branch and move the headquarters to singapore. he would have liked hong kong but... you know. china. also, when i was a kid, in the 90's and 2000's all adults around me talked about moving to usa or canada. well now, my generation doesn't want that. because we are looking at what america has done to the "brains" that america took in. take the porn star "stoya" for ex. her father migrated because he was good in biology and he also had a programming degree. his daughter ? PORN. then you look at what happens to white kids in usa, and how they grovel at the feet of.... darker ones, thanks to usa education and at the "critical race classes" and so on. see ? at my age, 30, you no longer think about "i want money NOW" you think about safety, about your children's future, about society, about advancements. take for ex north korea. a dude named dresnok deserted to north korea. well, he had something to offer to koreans, so in return he received status. but not only that, his kids that he made in korea are respected, and they received education and are part of the intellectual elites. in korea it's illegal to offend the intellectuals so they are as respected as the dear leader. so he secured his future and his kids future. while in america ? while you are busy working in a laboratory for the scientific advancement of usa, dark ones lure your daughter into prostitution and the LGBT community lures your son into being trans. all this while being protected by the "law" so... come to usa to make business ? no thank you. and btw, this is only one of the many things that is wrong now in the u.s.

I used to work in a place that had over a hundred SDB's and we had to drill into some of them. There were customers who had filled the boxes and then not returned or done any real business with us for years on end. Over the years, the number of boxes that were filled and seemingly forgotten grew, and we had other bigger, more active customers that we weren't able to give a box to. So we tried to contact the old box owners using whatever contact info they had provided us on the box paperwork and on their accounts. Many had disconnected phone numbers, and addresses that were no good any more. With no way to contact these people, and many years of them not coming in or doing business with us, we drilled into the boxes and bagged the contents to be stored in our vault. This process was done under heavy surveillance and with security and witnesses present. There was no way any item could be taken or not logged properly. The fact that BofA lost some things is very fishy, and the fact that they UPS'ed people's stuff back to them is jaw dropping.

The caliber of many employees at BOA is in the gutter. They need to pay them better that way they can retain the best talent and fire the rest. Right now, many seem to not care about their jobs. I had an experience with fraud on my credit card. I called numerous times and was hung up on everytime, until I got an employee that finally picked up the phone. I was not pleased. As a client I should not have to deal with unprofessional conduct.

Bank Of America (AND MANY OHER BANKS) is the MONEY LAUNDRY MACHINE OF THE CIA to finance all Black Ops activities in overthrowing governments AND THAT OF THE PENTAGON involved in illegal arms sales even after they were all caught with their pants down during the Regan's Administration Iran-Contra Scandal in the 1980s and you expect them to follow the rules that everybody should follow? What they did is VIOLATE THE U.S CONSTITUTION'S BILL OF RIGHTS AS ENFORCED BY THE 6TH AMENDMENT OF THE U.S CONSTITUTION!

THERE SHOULD BE ANTI-BANK ILLEGALITIES BY LAWS known also as a U.S CONSTITUTIONAL "BILL OG RIGHTS" BY LAWS as a rule made by a company or society to control the actions of its members, a regulation made by a local authority; an ordinance. And regulators by laws to give it more teeth against banks committing all kinds and types of illegalities.

There was a branch in my city that I was absolutely certain was trying to go out of business INTENTIONALLY. Well, after many years of astoundingly bad service, they did. Between stealing people's ED account money, hitting people with surprise charges, and now emptying safe deposit boxes without warning, it seems they are trying to run the entire institution into the ground.

I had 16 accounts with a bank I have done businesses with for 22 yrs. Amendment contrac in Ink and pen, drilled box under dispute. Have all my docs. $675.000 stolen with bank intraemails to confirm cover up. I have nine witnesses, ect, ect.... Iron clad inside job. FBI told me they had never handled this kind of case. Showed them docs., they agreed with me. Advice, hire civil attorney.. Fact. I'm a Pro. Counselor, no history of wrong doing. This case has caused me to be at the mercy of an abuser for almost 3 yrs. I was worth approximately 1 million in physical gold, silver and jewelry. All taken except a vacation home I had to sale for 50 cents on a dollar. Imbalance of power once they have brought you to O. Yes, My name is familiar. It's so bad, I can't get housing assistance. About to be homeless for the 4th time. If I can gut through it. I've had 2 heart attacks, beaten, abducted, rape, robbed 3 times and my car stolen. I can back it up 100 percent to no avail. Have all documentation. Headshaking!!!!

If a storage facility must use due process to seize a unit for not paying how can a bank touch a safe deposit box without going through extensive process. This is criminal and should be prosecuted. Banks have been allowed to rip off their customers without concern for way too long. No rental agreement should relieve their customers constitutional rights.

BofA is just crooked. Foe YEARS I was getting checking statements with interest, and then they informed me that I had 'actually' signed up for 'Interest free' - meaning I got NO interest at all when I went to close the account! By some weird stroke of luck, I had the original form. But, getting them to pay the interest took a long time. Crooks.

Anyone who seriously trusts banks... A while ago, my then local bank had a notice warning that no employee would ever ask for sensitive information over the phone. When someone did exactly that, I hung up of course (there might have been a bit of Anglo-Saxon involved.) I later found out the call had been from that local branch. I was assured the employee concerned had been assigned retraining. It didn't stop me switching banks.

I’m not sure how consumers have a little recourse for getting robbed doesn’t matter if it’s the bank or not if they’re paying their monthly fees or whatever for their safety deposit box and they had everything right there that is needed to open an account then that’s literally just theft and they should turn around and sue that bank
