Hi I'm Wendy a resin artist and crafter.
In this video I am using a mould I purchased from Amazon and the link for it will be below.
It's a mould that comes in pieces so you put it together and place the wings where you want them to be.
It also comes with a smaller version and talons.
All the parts can be put together using resin or glue and the turn into a fantastic flying dragon.

Oh! The clear polyurethane resin is great for these. It handles being super thin a lot better than epoxy resin, and can take more color than U.V. resin 🙂

@@Toonpish Steve Mcdonald introduced me to the concept. It looks like the ones you can get in the U.K. are a bit different from the ones that I can get here in the U.S., but I get mine on Amazon. The ones I get are mixed equal parts by volume like many epoxies, and you can get them that will cure white, black or clear from what I've seen. There are really great reasons for all of those, but I prefer the clear, so that I can add some color of my own. Be careful, test it first.. Some of them don't accept mica very well. Some pigments react differently than others as well. My cheap pigments from Aliexpress never cured, but the hipoo and let's resin pigments work well. It's truly worth a try. The stuff I get can be taken out of the mold in 15 minutes. But it's got a one minute work time. It looks like the stuff you guys can get is more like an hour or two, but the work time is much better. Good luck! It's really worth the try :-)

Claire uses a white one that has a 30 second work time and cures in 5 minutes 😂😂 that’s scary 😂😂 I’m sure one day I’ll try it 😀👍❤️

I make the first pour mold with a colored resin and save for future reference. My collection is getting rather large but each peace is beautiful to me even the flaws like bubbles. They are wonderful! I love the Lets resin color shift on them. I was thinking.. if you mixed some color shift or, whatever color you’re using into some UV and applied a little to the outside of the seams. It may help disguise seams a bit and then maybe you wouldn’t have to hold it while the 5min epoxy sets up? I used to use slip to disguise seams on ceramics so, that’s where my mind went.😆 I have a feeling you and your lathe may be busy with some dragon eggs? Maybe twins or more?😊 Great video as always Wendy!

I bought the same molds back in April. I gave up on the talons but I've made several different colored dragons. My only issue is I wish I could make them into different shapes as far as the direction they turn in. I also used uv resin to attach the wings.

Excellent job! Have you ever had a mold rip removing a piece? If so can you repair it?

Yes and no sadly. The most common reason for the moulds sticking or ripping is the resin has overheated and fused to the mould. This happens when you use a torch on it. So either use a long neck lighter or alcohol to pop bubbles. But not both 😀😀😀

No problem at all Vanessa 😀😀 the only issue I have had with collapsing moulds is jar moulds as the pressure can cave in the middle. My advice is to fill the middle with something solid like another piece of resin or something 😀😀

Loved these! Would crystals fit into the eyes? Thinking of doing a hair clip for my daughter with the smaller one. Also, she wants a clock. Having one hanging somehow from the top or bottom with astrological signs at 12:00; 3:00; 6:00; and 9:00 with large rhinestones to mark in between...do you think the dragons would be shaped for this? But my question I really need to have answered... I'm at the point of needing more epoxy resin. At this point, I'm trying to decide between Jdiction and Let's Resin resin. I don't have storage space for both. Which one would you recommend if you could only get one? (Just a hint that I learned working with mica powders... I ALWAYS use waxed paper under my projects. After spilling one once...waxed paper is so easy to gently corral the spilled powder back into where it belongs. And I cut it small enough that I change it out with each color. I'm a natural born klutz. 🙃)

Thanks for your comment Jay 😀😀 Okay so If I could only buy one resin I would need to ask myself Am I going to make small things all the time or larger things 🤔 Ifs is smaller then the answer for me is Let’sResin but if it’s larger Ie more than 15 mil deep, then it would have to be JDICTION If you can get gem stones in the eyes of those dragons you are a dedicated crafter 😳 the moulds are tiny for the eye sockets 😀 As far the clock ⏰ I think your artistic flair will make it work 😀😀 Have a great week and I hope this has helped 😀😀👍❤️
